Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Apollo Gutz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kev Hawkins (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd giving both fighters a great reception on their way into the arena. That's good to see.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Gutz shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Hawkins is trying to defend but Gutz finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.

That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Apollo Gutz. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Gutz feints and then winds up with a huge right hand that connects perfectly and sends Hawkins sprawling to the canvas! Hawkins rolls over backwards and springs off the cage and manages to regain his footing - how acrobatic! Oh, he's still wobbly - can Gutz finish him?!

Gutz finds Hawkins's off switch, with a big overhand right that connects perfectly to the side of the head! Hawkins flops back against the cage, eyes gazing into the distance. Gutz lands an unnecessary shot before the referee has time to step in and end the fight. Brutal stuff but I'm sure Hawkins will be OK.
