The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
McCarthy shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Johnson counters with a takedown into side control.
McCarthy is trying to improve his position.
Johnson lands a few punches from side control.
Johnson trying to control the action but McCarthy is working from the bottom.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

McCarthy is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Johnson off and has taken his back!

McCarthy is working really hard to secure the rear naked choke. Johnson defends successfully for a significant amount of time. Both fighters are looking very determined.
McCarthy biding his time, looking for the opening.
Johnson really doesn't want to stay on the ground with McCarthy. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

McCarthy is looking to control Johnson but Johnson is wriggling around and keeping busy.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Johnson is staying cool under pressure, defending well against the rear naked choke attempt from his opponent.
You can see the frustration on Johnson's face… He knows he is in trouble unless he improves his position sooner rather than later.
McCarthy has managed to slip his arm under Johnson's chin. This could be all over... yep, Johnson is tapping out! Submission win for McCarthy.
