Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Emelyan Pugachov (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Buhju Banton (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Emelyan Pugachov!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Buhju Banton!
The judges for this bout are Steve Erwin, Winston Howard and Damien Edna.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Banton misses with a low kick as Pugachov jumps back.
Nice defenses there by Pugachov.
Banton has his front leg slapped to the side - a nice low kick landing there from Pugachov.
Banton throws a hook to the side of Pugachov's head but Pugachov sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Pugachov tries a head kick but it misses.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Banton misses with some punches.

Pugachov is trying to break free.

Pugachov lands a big knee from the Thai clinch and Banton goes down hard! The ref takes a good look at him but he's still defending himself. Pugachov in side control.


It looks like Buhju Banton has been cut.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Pugachov throws a knee to the body but it doesn't do much damage.
Banton avoids any damage from the ground and pound of Pugachov.

Banton dodges the ground and pound from Pugachov.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Pugachov might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.

Pugachov lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard.
Banton is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.
Pugachov trying to control the position from guard on top but Banton is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.
Banton bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Pugachov's guard.
Banton wants to control from the top but Pugachov keeps moving.

Banton might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Pugachov haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Buhju Banton was stalling too much, according to the referee.
Banton looks to land a combination but Pugachov avoids it well.
Banton throws a lazy right hand but Pugachov sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Banton takes a swing at Pugachov's ribcage but misses.

Banton tries to keep at a distance but Pugachov has taken the fight into the clinch.
Banton lands a left hand.

Pugachov lands a big knee to the head and Banton goes down! Pugachov is looking to finish!
Banton looks winded!
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Banton is looking for a sweep.
Pugachov working away diligently from side control. Landing strikes effectively there - that will score him some points on the judges scorecards.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Banton stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Banton wants it to stay on the feet.
Banton just misses with a punch to the body.
The fight stays on the outside here - Pugachov looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Pugachov changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Banton tries to avoid it but Pugachov manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Banton to the ground. Banton escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
We are yet to see a takedown attempt from Banton in the fight. On paper you would think he is the more dominant ground fighter so let's see if these unusual tactics pay off.
Banton will need to close the distance a bit before he attacks - that leg kick was thrown from too far away.
Pugachov lands with a cross.
Emelyan Pugachov is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Banton pushing out the jab but it's not landing.
Banton throws a body kick that misses.
Banton is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Pugachov.
Pugachov closes this distance looking for a takedown but Banton circles away.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Emelyan Pugachov. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Pugachov closes the distance and pushes Banton back into the cage.
Pugachov lands a hook to the side of the head.

Banton is breathing heavily.

Pugachov pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Pugachov tries to close the distance and clinch up but Banton swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Pugachov blocks a jab.
Pugachov tries to clinch up but Banton circles away and keeps his distance.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Pugachov dives in and grabs Banton's left leg, looking for a takedown. Banton pushes down on Pugachov's head and hops out.
Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Banton.
Pugachov tries to close the distance and clinch up but Banton swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Pugachov circles to his right before unloading a perfect head kick! Banton drops to the canvas, hurt badly! Pugachov follows Banton to the ground and unloads with a series of strikes that force the referee to step in and end the fight! This one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:17 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Emelyan Pugachov!
