Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Bruce Leroy (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Danny Wait (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Leroy comes to the ring accompanied by Black Dynamite. Wait is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Danger Zone. Man, I cannot wait for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Bruce Leroy!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Danny Wait!
The judges for this bout are Paul Gruel, Ryoma Takatsuka and Jeff Smith.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Wait shuffles to his left behind two crisp jabs. Leroy eats them both and turns towards Wait to reposition himself and eats a stinging right hand-left hook combo.
Wait on the wrong end of a nice jab.
Wait tries to score with a low kick but Leroy moves his leg out of the way.
Wait is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Wait fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
A looping hook to the body misses from Wait. Leroy does a little dance to reset his feet.
Leroy lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise.
Leroy misses with an uppercut
and Wait counters with a straight right hand.
Leroy feints and then cracks Wait's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Wait down.
Leroy lunges at Wait with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Wait's hand.
Wait ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.

Leroy forces Wait back against the ropes and clinches.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Leroy crunches a lovely knee into Wait's ribcage.
Leroy lands a nice looking hook to the body, against the ropes.
Leroy unloads a knee to the mid-section. Wait lets out a prehistoric sounding urrrrgh.
Leroy throws a vicious knee straight up the middle but Wait blocks it with crossed arms.

Leroy has picked Wait up - he's going for a ride! Leroy dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard.

Leroy scoring with strikes to the body and head.
Ground and pound from Leroy.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Leroy in particular looking to stall.
Leroy working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.
Wait pushes Leroy off looking to stand but Leroy dives back in and keeps control.

Leroy is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.

Leroy wants to free his trapped foot but Wait is holding on for dear life with his legs.

Leroy has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Leroy is looking to take a break and control but Wait is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Wait throws a nice looking combination but Leroy bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Wait misses with a hook. Leroy ducked under it nicely.

Leroy drives through with a takedown into Wait's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.
Leroy looking to sit in guard and control but Wait gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Wait trying to control but Leroy is working from the bottom.
Wait is looking to stand up but Leroy won't let him.
Wait wants to stand and escape but instead Leroy has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.
Leroy slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Leroy throws a big elbow that misses.

Leroy trying to control but Wait is working from the bottom.
Leroy loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Leroy trying to control the position from guard on top but Wait is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Leroy is stalling in the full guard.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Bruce Leroy wasn't doing enough on the ground.
Leroy connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Wait momentarily.

Wait gets tackled into the ropes by Leroy. Leroy maintains the clinch.
Leroy misses the knee to the body. Nice hip positioning from Wait.
Wait throws an elbow but it's blocked.

Leroy putting his Muay Thai to good use. He has Wait in a tight clinch and is doing some damage with knees to the body.
Leroy is trying to wear down his opponent with knees to the body.
Wait is pressed up against the ropes. Leroy has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Wait down to the mat. Wait avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
Wait misses with the combination.
Leroy thows a left - swing and a miss!

Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Leroy clinches up against the ropes.
Leroy lands a nice knee to the body.

The referee is keeping an eye on Leroy - much more stalling and he will separate the fighters.
Wait pushes off an throws an elbow but Leroy leans to the side and avoids it. We're back to clinching against the ropes.
Leroy unloads a knee to the mid-section. Wait lets out a prehistoric sounding urrrrgh.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's time! Back to the action!


Wait takes one to the side of the head.
Leroy tries to close the distance and clinch but Wait swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Leroy tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Wait scores with a straight right hand, right through his opponent's guard.
Wait avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Leroy throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Wait connects with a right hand. Leroy shakes it off.
Wait avoids the body shot from Leroy.
A looping hook to the body misses from Leroy. Wait does a little dance to reset his feet.
Leroy connects with a hook to the side of his opponent's head.
Wait keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Leroy tries to clinch there but Wait circles away.

Leroy rushes Wait and presses him up against the ropes.
Wait pushes off an throws an elbow but Leroy leans to the side and avoids it. We're back to clinching against the ropes.
Leroy is clearly stalling here... Pick up the pace son.

Wait using the Thai plumb to throw knees but Leroy has his back arched nicely, preventing the strike.

With the fighters up against the ropes, Wait throws an elbow but misses.
Wait takes an elbow to the forehead.
Wait is looking to control Leroy's arms but Leroy gets an underhook and turns him. Now Wait has his back to the ropes.
Leroy tries a knee to the head but he's missed.

Leroy is trying to trip Wait. He has hold of a leg but Wait is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Leroy persists though and gets the takedown into guard.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.

Leroy trying to control but Wait is working from the bottom.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Leroy wants to control from the top but Wait keeps moving.
Leroy might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Bruce Leroy.
Wait lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Leroy backs up against the ropes.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Leroy has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Wait is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.

Wait is absolutely dripping with sweat - he looks exhausted.
Wait pushes off an throws an elbow but Leroy leans to the side and avoids it. We're back to clinching against the ropes.

Wait parries the strikes from Leroy easily there. Leroy is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Wait to escape.

Danny Wait has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Leroy creates a bit of distance and throws down some hard shots.
Leroy wants to lay and pray for a moment but Wait keeps working.

You can see the frustration on Wait's face as Leroy controls the position.

Well Leroy has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
