PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Jordan Radajev (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ian Macallan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Jordan Radajev!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Ian Macallan!
The judges for this bout are Paul Tew, Colin Fotheringham and Steven Brown.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Radajev pushes Macallan up against the cage in a clinch.

Macallan breaks the clinch.
Radajev throws a leg kick but Macallan sees it coming and moves out of range.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Macallan enables Radajev to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Macallan manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
Macallan trying to punch from his back but it's not doing any damage.

Macallan looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Macallan looking to hit a scissor sweep but Radajev is one step ahead there.
Radajev throws a strike but Macallan rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.
Macallan slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.

Macallan scores with a couple of short elbows.
Radajev is pushing Macallan's head away, looking to escape. Macallan manages to hold on to the position though.
Radajev is trying to get back to half guard.

Macallan tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.

Macallan tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Macallan has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Macallan wants to stand but Radajev has his arm trapped.
Macallan throwing strikes but missing, from side control.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Macallan is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Radajev is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

Macallan stands up.

Macallan drives through and clinches with Radajev against the cage.

Macallan gets the body lock takedown. After a quick scramble, Radajev regains guard.
Macallan tries to free his leg and advance position but Radajev is retaining full guard.
Radajev working a defensive guard but Macallan manages to pass into side control anyway.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Macallan is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Radajev knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
Radajev is breathing heavily.

Macallan is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Radajev has escaped the position, nice work there.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Radajev is looking to reverse the position.
Radajev is letting Macallan control him for a moment.

Macallan working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Macallan tries to stand but Radajev is controlling his head.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Ian Macallan dominated that round.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.



Macallan manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Radajev on his heels. He'll look to pass Radajev's guard now, I'm sure.
Macallan is looking to stand up but Radajev won't let him.
Macallan is using up a lot of energy trying to get back to his feet. Perhaps he should improve his position first.

Macallan's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.
Let's hope that Macallan has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Ian Macallan wasn't active enough on the ground.

Macallan looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into side control! Oh, that's bad for Radajev!

Radajev knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Macallan on the ground.
Macallan works to advance to full mount. Radajev defends for a few seconds but eventually he succumbs.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

You get the feeling that Radajev really doesn't like being in this position too much.

The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Macallan looking for an armbar but decides to keep the dominant position instead.

Macallan breaks from Radajev's wrist control and lands an elbow.

Macallan lands a nice shot to the head.
Macallan scores with a couple of good head shots there.

Radajev is bucking up trying to escape but Macallan cracks him with another couple of good strikes.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Ian Macallan showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!



Macallan gets the takedown into side control.

Macallan stands up and beckons Radajev to his feet.

Radajev forces Macallan back against the cage and clinches.

Radajev turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Radajev manages to end up in side control.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Macallan can do anything to dispel that myth.
Radajev is trying to ground and pound but Macallan uses the momentary lack of control by Radajev to regain half guard.
Macallan gets back to full guard.
Macallan throws a nice elbow from the bottom.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Radajev got a little sloppy there for a moment and Macallan has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Radajev has managed to get both his arms back between Macallan's legs - danger averted.

Radajev won't allow Macallan to sweep him here.
Radajev has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Macallan is on top in guard.

Macallan keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Radajev's head.
Radajev wants to get back to his feet but Macallan passes into half guard.

Radajev is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Macallan scores with a couple of nice shots.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Macallan is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
Macallan works his foot free and advances to mount.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Macallan wants to finish this one by submission but Radajev is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Macallan.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Ian Macallan is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.

I've got Macallan winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
