PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Dennis Wise (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Merik Hunt (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Hunt is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Comfortably Numb. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the welterweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 32 - 9 - 1, fighting out of New York, Dennis Wise!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 26 - 12 - 0, fighting out of London, Merik Hunt!
The judges for this bout are , Timothy Bukovac and Frank Antenori.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Horrible takedown by Hunt or perhaps it was just good defense by Wise which made him look bad.
Sloppy strikes from Hunt. Those never looked like landing.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Wise enables Hunt to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Wise manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Wise is on top in guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Hunt wants to sweep here but Wise controlling him for the moment.
Wise looking to pass the guard.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Hunt wants to sweep but no luck.
Hunt not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Dennis Wise.
Hunt shoots for a takedown but Wise saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Wise tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
A slapping leg kick lands for Hunt.

Hunt closes the distance and pushes Wise back into the cage.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Hunt misses with some punches.
Knees in the clinch landing for Wise.
Hunt misses with a hook from the clinch.
Wise pushes Hunt back against the cage and unloads with a body punch.
Hunt working on landing some head shots here - that one got through nicely.
With the fighters clinched against the cage, Wise creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Wise lands an elbow just above Hunt 's eye.
Wise works for underhooks and lands a body shot in the process.
A head punch blocked on the inside by Wise.
Wise gets an overhook and lands an elbow to the side of the head.
Wise throws a punch but it's blocked by Hunt.
Wise misses with the head strike.
Hunt fails to land with a short punch on the inside.
Hunt has a couple of punches blocked by Wise.
Hunt misses with a hook from the clinch.
Hunt drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Wise gets the underhooks and prevents it.
Dennis Wise has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Merik Hunt.
Hunt tries to land a shot to the body but it's blocked.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Hunt struggles to land a body shot inside as Wise controls his hands.
Hunt is trying to force a seperation but Wise has the dominant position.
Hunt has Wise pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Wise manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.
Wise lands with a good tight uppercut to the head.
Hunt is looking to break free of the clinch but Wise has double underhooks.
Hunt tries to throw a body punch but Wise avoids it by throwing Hunt back against the cage.
Hunt working aggressively here.
Hunt misses with a punch on the inside.
Wise working some nice short punches in the clinch.
Hunt blocks an uppercut.
Wise leaning against his opponent.
A nice left hand lands by Wise.
Wise pressing his opponent against the cage.
Hunt is trying to drag Wise to the mat but Wise just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Wise lands punches inside but they're not really causing much damage.
Hunt wants to break the clinch but can't.
Hunt throws a punch but it's blocked by Wise.
Wise tried to land a shot to the body but connects with Hunt's elbow.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Wise softening up his opponent with strikes, against the cage.
Hunt misses with some punches.
Hunt scores with an uppercut up the middle.
Hunt tries a body shot but Wise blocks it.
A knee to the head by Wise.
A short right hand to the side of the head by Hunt.
Wise misses with some punches.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Hunt lands with a quick shot inside that doesn't really do much damage.
Wise lands a nice elbow.
Wise tries a body shot but Hunt blocks it.
A head punch blocked on the inside by Wise.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Dennis Wise will probably get the nod.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Hunt throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Merik Hunt seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Wise takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away.
Hunt swats away the attempt to clinch by Wise.
Hunt feints and then cracks Wise's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Wise down.
Wise throws a lazy right hand but Hunt sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Hunt misses with a straight right.
Wise on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Hunt. Hunt obviously looking to wear him down.
Hunt gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Wise counters with a nice leg kick.
Wise scoring well with a low kick there.
Wise connects with a leg kick. Hunt looked like he was expecting something else and didn't defend it.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Wise fakes a jab and throws a low kick but Hunt checks it well.
Hunt throws a quick inside leg kick.
A punch lands to the side of Hunt 's head but he takes it in his stride.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Left hook, right uppercut from Hunt.
Hunt thows a body shot but no joy.
Wise looking to take his opponent's legs away with the low kicks.
Hunt swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Hunt looks for the body kick but Wise saw that one coming.
Hunt has a nice red mark on his side after a thudding body kick by Wise.
Hunt is breathing heavily.
Wise throws a low kick but Hunt avoids it.
Wise misses with a two punch combination.
Wise connects with a superb combination that knocks Hunt out cold! The referee charges across the mat and tackles Wise before he can land any more shots to the unconscious Hunt!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:41 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Punches). Dennis Wise!
Dennis Wise is the new welterweight champion!
Dennis Wise decided to thank the fans in attendance for making a great atmosphere. It seemed to go down pretty well.
