PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Daniel Bryan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Osmo Keinänen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Bryan comes to the cage accompanied by Flight of the Valkyries. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Daniel Bryan!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Osmo Keinänen!
The judges for this bout are Ben Zyskovitsi, Tarja Halkonen and Matti Vanhoillinen.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A right-left combo lands from Keinänen.
Keinänen dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Bryan. That did some damage!
Keinänen checks a leg kick nicely.
Keinänen uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Bryan.
Keinänen tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Keinänen thumps Bryan with a low kick.
Keinänen looking to throw a kick but he's pulled out of it.
Bryan tries to score with an inside leg kick but telegraphs it and Keinänen is able to avoid easily.
Bryan throws a head kick that looked like it stung.


It looks like Osmo Keinänen has been cut.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Bryan swings and misses with a shot to the body

and Keinänen counters with a takedown into side control! That could mean trouble for Bryan!
Keinänen controls the position from side control.

Keinänen tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Keinänen has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Keinänen is looking to take a break and control but Bryan is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Bryan stops Keinänen from passing to mount.

Keinänen swings around for an armbar but Bryan sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Keinänen's guard.
Bryan advances position into side control!
Sloppy strikes there by Bryan.
Keinänen is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
Bryan has knee on belly and now moves to full mount! Trouble for Keinänen!
Keinänen gets back to half guard.
Bryan seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Keinänen does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Keinänen actively working from the bottom here.
Bryan is keen to just control but Keinänen is a slippery customer.
Bryan frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
Keinänen really trying hard to get back to half guard here.

Bryan is really struggling to control Keinänen but he's trying to hold on to the position.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Keinänen can't escape the position.

Keinänen tries to hold on but Bryan pushes him away.
Bryan connects with a couple of good shots from mount.

Keinänen is squirming around, avoiding Bryan's attempts to control the action.

Bryan fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!

Keinänen is looking to improve his position but Bryan isn't that keen on the idea.
Bryan can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Keinänen is looking to escape.
Bryan has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Daniel Bryan has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet.
Keinänen lands a leg kick that knocks Bryan off balance momentarily.
Bryan keeps his opponent at a distance with a nice jab.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Bryan walks into a straight right hand from Keinänen.
Bryan connects with a good right hand that stumbles Keinänen. Keinänen circles away out of range and recomposes himself.
Daniel Bryan seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Keinänen gets clipped by a big right hand and goes down spinning to the canvas! Bryan gets the back mount and begins to drop bombs on his rocked foe! Keinänen is too out of it to defend against the strikes and the referee jumps in to save him from the beatdown!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:48 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Daniel Bryan!
In his post fight interview, Daniel Bryan gave a big smile as he said 'YES! YES! YES!'.
