Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Don Damien (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Brian Marlin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Brian Marlin is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Don Damien!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Brian Marlin!
The judges for this bout are Robert Twigg, Gwen Towbar and Cecil Peabody.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Marlin looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Damien is fending him off so far but Marlin persists. Nope, Damien circles away and we're back to standing.
Marlin fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Marlin.
Don Damien has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Brian Marlin.

Damien clinches.
Damien tries to stall but Marlin uses the opportunity to gain a better position.
Damien drops down looking for an ankle pick but Marlin pulls his leg out and moves away.

so Marlin counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Damien keeping moving, preventing Marlin from controlling successfully.
Marlin prevents Damien from getting back to his feet.

Damien has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Marlin can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Damien is breathing heavily.
Marlin pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Damien is keeping the position for now.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fight is doing enough on the ground.
The fight stays on the outside here - Marlin looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Damien gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Damien is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Marlin gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.
Marlin avoiding damage.

Marlin pulls guard effortlessly.
Damien wants to control from the top but Marlin keeps moving.
Marlin has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Damien avoids a guillotine attempt easily.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Marlin is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Marlin is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Damien looking to sit in guard and control but Marlin gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Marlin not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
Marlin chips away with some ground and pound.
Damien wants to control the position but Marlin says "no thanks buddy" and passes to half guard.
Damien wants to sweep but Marlin has passed to side control!
Damien wants to control but Marlin postures up.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Brian Marlin dominated that round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!



Marlin clinches up with Damien and pushes him back against the cage.
Marlin tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Damien just stands there and leans against the cage.

Damien jumps into guard, dragging Marlin to the mat.
Marlin seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
Damien is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Marlin pushing down on Damien's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work.
Marlin not doing much here.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Marlin seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Damien does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
Marlin passes to full mount!
Marlin with the ground and pound from mount.
Damien tries to reverse the position but Marlin maintains control.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Marlin is working to isolate an arm here. It's a choreographed submission attempt but he's gone for it anyway - and he's got it! Marlin extends the arm and Damien is forced to tap!
