Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Maxim Wishibalov (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jorma Korva (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Maxim Wishibalov!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jorma Korva!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Franklin, Robert Twigg and Chris Downing.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Wishibalov with a lazy takedown attempt

and Korva counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Wishibalov is on top in guard.
Korva throws a couple of shots from the bottom but they don't land.

Korva is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Korva wants to get up but he can't break Wishibalov's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
Korva is looking to pass into half guard but Wishibalov pushes him away with his feet and jumps on top - now Wishibalov is in guard.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Maxim Wishibalov.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Korva looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Korva throws a head kick but Wishibalov moves out of range.
Maxim Wishibalov is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Korva decides to pull guard.

Korva has his foot on Wishibalov's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Wishibalov works his way back into a safe position though.

Korva working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Wishibalov doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Wishibalov manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Korva has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Wishibalov can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Korva tries to score a power double leg takedown but Wishibalov sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Korva somewhat.

Korva has gone for a leg lock! Wishibalov slips out almost immediately though and dives into Korva's guard.

Korva is trying to keep Wishibalov in close.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Korva escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Wishibalov gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jorma Korva showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's time! Back to the action! The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!

Wishibalov tries to break free but Korva pushes him back against the cage.
Wishibalov tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Korva smiles and moves away.

Korva thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Korva creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Wishibalov sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike.
Wishibalov can't do much from the bottom here.
The referee tells the fighters to keep busy.
Korva wants to control but Wishibalov is keeping him busy.

Wishibalov is not content to let Korva control the position.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
Korva is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Wishibalov will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Korva can do anything to dispel that myth.
