The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Routakirves swings and misses with a shot to the body
and Hovimaki counters with a lovely straight right hand!
Routakirves fails with an attempt to clinch.
Hovimaki is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Routakirves.

Hovimaki is looking for an opening here. He's unloaded a big left hand that catches Routakirves flush on the jaw and sends him tumbling to the canvas! Routakirves is out cold! Hovimaki holds back from landing any unnecessary shots to his unconscious opponent, as the referee reacts slowly to the situation. A brutal knockout and then some excellent sportsmanship - this guy is my new favorite fighter!

Mikko Hovimaki was full of energy after the big win and talked about how he thinks he can do big things in this sport. The crowd were appreciative of his determination to succeed.
