PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Aaron Witt (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and MixMaster Me (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Me is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Digital Animal. I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 23 - 4 - 1, fighting out of Montreal, Aaron Witt!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 17 - 12 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, MixMaster Me!
The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, Frank Antenori and .




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Me rushes Witt and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
An uppercut on the inside fails to land for Witt.
Witt is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.
Witt stalling in the clinch but Me improves position.
Witt misses with a short punch on the inside.
Witt lands a right hand that snaps the head of Me backwards.
Witt swings away with an uppercut that misses.
Witt prevents Me from breaking the clinch.
Me trying to control the position but instead, Witt has worked for underhooks and has pushed Me into the cage.
Witt tries to land a shot to the body but it's blocked.

Witt's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Me wants to clinch

and Witt counters with a shoot takedown. Me fights it but they end up in guard.
Me pulls Witt in close to prevent any damage.
Me wants to stand up but Witt is controlling him.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Witt trying to control but Me is working from the bottom.
Witt throwing strikes from guard but Me blocks nicely.
Witt chips away with some ground and pound.
Witt sitting in guard, not really doing much.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Witt looking to sit in guard and control but Me gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Witt looking for a sweep. Not yet Witt, not yet.
Witt has Me pulled in close to control his posture.
Me trying to control but Witt is working from the bottom.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Me tries to free his leg and advance position but Witt is retaining full guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Me slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

MixMaster Me has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet.
Me looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Witt looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Witt scores with a punch to the head.
Me tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Witt paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Me takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch.
Witt jabbing away but nothing is landing.
Witt loads up on a big right hand but Me slips the punch.
Nice uppercut there from Me.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Ouch! a nice leg kick from Witt, right into the meat.
Witt misses the shot to the body.
The fight stays on the outside here - Me looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Witt sizes up Me with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle.
Witt scores with a jab to the body.
Witt swings for the body but Me moves out of range.
Witt throws a nice outside leg kick.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Good shot there by Witt.
A slow jab from Witt misses its intended target.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Me is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Me moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Aaron Witt dominated that round.
That's time! Back to the action!


Me ducks under a wild hook from Witt.
Witt throws a right hand that misses
and Me counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Me tries to grapple but his opponent circles

and Witt counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Me's guard now.

Me scrambles and gets back to his feet.
Witt scores with a three punch combo!
Witt tries to check the leg kick but that clearly hurt him.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Me pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Aaron Witt seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Me avoids the body shot from Witt.
Witt takes a swing at Me's ribcage but misses.
Me takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Witt misses with a series of wild punches.
Witt lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh.
Me takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it.
Witt throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Me's waist but Me gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Witt off to one side.

Witt gets tackled into the cage by Me. Me maintains the clinch.
Witt jumps guard but Me stands there with Witt around his waist. Witt gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Witt letting Me take a breather here.
A short right hand to the side of the head by Witt.

Me breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Witt uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Me.
MixMaster Me is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

Me slips a jab and a cross from Witt.
Some wild striking there from Witt.
Witt pushing out the jab but it's not landing.
Witt thows a body shot but no joy.
MixMaster Me is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Witt fails to land the takedown.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Aaron Witt. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Witt swings away with a body shot that misses
and Me counters with a big head kick but Witt shrugs it off.
A combination from Me does no damage.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Witt changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Me looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Me holds on to Witt's head and controls the position momentarily.
Aaron Witt overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Witt tries to score with some ground and pound. Me controls his posture well this time though and the shots don't do any damage.
Me sneaks back into half guard.
Witt throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
Witt thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Me's head.
Me keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
Witt will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Witt with the ground and pound but Me uses the opportunity to regain guard.
Witt slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Witt in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Witt trying to control but Me is working from the bottom.
Me bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Witt's guard.

Witt looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Witt looking to control.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Witt is looking for a triangle but Me pushes his legs off easily.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Aaron Witt dominated that second round.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.

Witt shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Me defends it nicely.
Witt is using his reach advantage well here, landing the more effective single shots from range.
A lazy left from Witt finds it's target.
Me throws a head kick but Witt moves out of range.
Aaron Witt is winning the standup battle so far.
Witt dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Witt circles away from the clinch attempt.
Witt misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Me.
Witt's corner calls for a 1-2. Witt obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range.
Witt throws a jab when Me was well out of range.

Me tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Me swings wildly with a couple of big hooks

and Witt counters with a takedown into side control! That could mean trouble for Me!
Witt trying to control the action but Me is working from the bottom.
Witt working the ground and pound but Me is defending the strikes.
Witt misses with an attempted head punch from side control.
Me tries to bench press Witt off him but Witt keeps the position.
Witt is working Me over with some ground and pound from side control.
Me managing to avoid any damage from the strikes thrown by Witt.

Me is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Witt has just dragged him back down to the mat.
Witt lands a few punches from side control.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Witt controlling the position from side mount.
Witt throws a knee to the body but it doesn't do much damage.
Witt in side control lands a decent elbow.
Witt postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.
MixMaster Me has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Me tries to control but end up mounted... ooooh, that's bad.
Witt throwing shots from mount but they're not landing.
Me is in a horrible position here, under a barrage of strikes, he's managing to avoid any damage.
Me's corner are shouting for him to stand up but that's bad cornering - how is he meant to stand up when he's mounted? He should be looking to improve his position on the ground before trying to stand back up.
Witt looking to finish with strikes here!
Witt throwing sloppy strikes here. Perhaps if he tightened up his striking from such a dominant position, he'd be able to finish easier.
A nice elbow there by Witt.
Witt has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Me's face.

Me avoids a series of strikes thrown by Witt.
Me is trying to stand up.

Witt throws an elbow from mount that misses. Lucky escape for Me because Witt loaded up on that one.

Well Witt has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
