Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Tom Kruiz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Vasili Syatev (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Kruiz might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to ZARILA KANDZE. This should be a great matchup!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Tom Kruiz!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Vasili Syatev!
The judges for this bout are Ivan Kurochkin, Viktor Lagutenko and Aleksandr Martynov.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Kruiz drives through with a takedown into guard.

Kruiz drops back looking for a leg! Syatev is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Syatev manages to kick Kruiz off! Kruiz jumps back into Syatev's guard.
Syatev looking to control.
Kruiz throwing strikes but missing.
Syatev preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.

Kruiz has gone for a leg lock! Syatev slips out almost immediately though and dives into Kruiz's guard.
Kruiz pulls Syatev in close to his closed guard and prevents Syatev from doing any damage or advancing position.
Kruiz wants to sweep here but Syatev controlling him for the moment.
Kruiz might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Syatev slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
Syatev must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Kruiz has his hands on Syatev's head, controlling the position.
Kruiz is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Tom Kruiz wasn't doing enough on the ground.
Kruiz shoots in looking for a takedown but Syatev manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Kruiz's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.

Syatev pushes Kruiz up against the cage in a clinch.

Syatev breaks from the clinch.

Kruiz manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Syatev on his heels. He'll look to pass Syatev's guard now, I'm sure.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Kruiz trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.

Kruiz thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Kruiz in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Kruiz pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Syatev is keeping the position for now.
Syatev really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Kruiz. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Kruiz drops back looking for a leg! Syatev is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Syatev manages to kick Kruiz off! Kruiz jumps back into Syatev's guard.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Kruiz pushing down on Syatev's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work.

Kruiz is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Syatev doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Kruiz.
Kruiz thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.

Syatev looking for submissions off his back.
Syatev trying to hold on to Kruiz's head to control him but Kruiz postures up.

Kruiz is trying to work for a kimura but Syatev is defending well.
Kruiz has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Kruiz seems like he's working for an arm triangle here. He's freed his trapped foot and he's rotating nicely. Syatev is in big trouble! He's tapping out! This one is aaaaaaaaaaaall over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:50 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Arm Triangle). Tom Kruiz!
After the fight, Tom Kruiz was humble in paying tribute to his opponent but made it clear he wants to go on to bigger and better things. It seemed to go down well with the crowd who cheered him loudly.
