Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Volk Khan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Tatsuya Kawajiri (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Kawajiri has chosen Water Pow as his entrance music. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 24 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Volk Khan!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 9 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Tatsuya Kawajiri!
The judges for this bout are Nard Betker, Saam Ante and Radbod Blank.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Khan swings for the body but Kawajiri moves out of range.
Volk Khan seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
No luck for Khan with that takedown attempt.
Khan shoots in looking for a takedown. Kawajiri tries to sprawl out of it but Khan keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Kawajiri manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Kawajiri needs to keep his hands up - Khan had a free shot at his head there.
Khan misses with a body shot.
Khan shoots in for a takedown but Kawajiri shows good takedown defense.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Volk Khan. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Kawajiri slips under a jab from Khan.
Khan doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Kawajiri counters with a lovely shot to the body.

Khan shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Kawajiri pinned against the cage. Kawajiri gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Khan looks for a takedown but Kawajiri sprawls well.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Khan.
Kawajiri stuffs the takedown attempt from Khan. Khan gets slowly back to his feet.

and Kawajiri counters with a crisp one two that drops Khan! Kawajiri thinks about following him to the mat for a moment but instead steps back and waves Khan to his feet! Khan is in big trouble!
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Khan closes this distance looking for a takedown but Kawajiri circles away.
Khan throws a body punch but Kawajiri moves out of range.
Kawajiri avoids the body shot from Khan.
Khan fails with the takedown
and Kawajiri counters with a right hand to the body.
Khan is breathing heavily.
Kawajiri bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Khan shoots in looking for a takedown. Kawajiri tries to sprawl out of it but Khan keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Kawajiri manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Khan fails with the takedown
and Kawajiri makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.
Horrible takedown by Khan or perhaps it was just good defense by Kawajiri which made him look bad.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Khan.
Khan changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Kawajiri tries to avoid it but Khan manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Kawajiri to the ground. Kawajiri escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

and Kawajiri counters by clinching up.
Khan fails to land with a short punch on the inside.

A hook to the body from Kawajiri.
Kawajiri works for underhooks and lands a body shot in the process.
Khan tries to break free but Kawajiri pushes him back against the cage.
Kawajiri keeps control of Khan as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.
A head punch blocked on the inside by Kawajiri.

Kawajiri pulls guard successfully.
Kawajiri tries to land a sweep but no joy.

Kawajiri is looking for a triangle but Khan pushes his legs off easily.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Khan pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Kawajiri is keeping the position for now.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!

Kawajiri is active off his back here, looking for submissions.

Khan is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Tatsuya Kawajiri dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


No luck for Khan with that takedown attempt.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Khan is defended easily by Kawajiri.
Kawajiri takes one to the chin there.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Khan gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Kawajiri counters with a nice uppercut.

Khan closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Kawajiri to the mat! Kawajiri manages to get full guard.
Kawajiri looking to hit a scissor sweep but Khan is one step ahead there.

Kawajiri has his foot on Khan's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Khan works his way back into a safe position though.

Khan seems to be working for a kimura but Kawajiri defends the submission attempt.
Kawajiri is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

Khan wants to lay and pray for a moment but Kawajiri keeps working.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
The fighters are battling for position here. Kawajiri manages to regain full guard. Nice work.

Kawajiri is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Kawajiri looking to sweep here. No luck so far.

Kawajiri wants to sweep here but Khan controlling him for the moment.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

Kawajiri lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Khan!
Kawajiri takes Khan's back. Could be looking for a rear naked choke here - either way, Khan is in trouble.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Kawajiri is remaining active here, looking for the choke. The more discerning members of the crowd will appreciate his efforts.

Kawajiri is trying to stick to Khan's back but Khan is turning into Kawajiri. He's managed to reverse the position - now he's in Kawajiri's guard. Polite applause from the crowd in appreciation of some nice Jiu Jitsu by Khan.

Khan slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
Kawajiri is looking for a sweep.

Khan is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Kawajiri knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
Khan has knee on belly and moves into mount.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Kawajiri is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Tatsuya Kawajiri showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Khan shoots in for a takedown but Kawajiri shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.

Khan has managed to clinch.
Khan gets through Kawajiri's defenses to land a nice punch to the side of the head.
A real battle for position is taking place between these two warriors.
Kawajiri prevents Khan from breaking the clinch.
Khan tries to work over Kawajiri's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target.
Kawajiri lands a right hand that snaps the head of Khan backwards.

Kawajiri pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Khan throws a body punch but Kawajiri moves out of range.

and Kawajiri counters with a nice uppercut.

Khan ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Kawajiri moves away.
Khan shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Kawajiri as he avoids it easily.
Kawajiri uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Khan.
Khan shoots in but no luck this time.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Volk Khan. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Khan fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Kawajiri leaves Khan with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Khan is trying hard to land a takedown here. Kawajiri sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.

Khan shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Kawajiri's guard.
Kawajiri is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Kawajiri is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Khan is trying to control Kawajiri's posture but Kawajiri avoids it.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Tatsuya Kawajiri is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
Khan wants to control but Kawajiri is keeping busy.
Kawajiri is looking to advance position but Khan won't allow it.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Kawajiri looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Kawajiri wants to control but Khan is keeping him busy.

Tatsuya Kawajiri comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I've got Kawajiri winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
