The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Black closes the distance and clinches up with Mills, looking for a takedown. Black pushes Mills against the cage but Mills circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Black shoots in for a double leg but Mills sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Black moves out of range as Mills strikes.

Black will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Black decides to stand back up.

Black bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.

Mills is working to avoid the ground and pound but Black connects with a decent elbow.
Mills is not content to let Black control the position.
Black in side control lands a decent elbow.
Black remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.

Mills is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Black has just dragged him back down to the mat.

Black has hold of Mills's arm here. He's working for an Americana. It looks like he might have it! Mills tries to escape but he's just digging himself in deeper - Black cranks the arm and Mills screams in pain! The ref makes a decision and ends the fight before the tap - no complains from Mills, who is just happy to have his arm attached to his body.
