Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Damien Walker (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Forrest Gump (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Walker tries to clinch
and Gump counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Walker thinking.
Walker checks a leg kick.
Walker throws a right and a left that Gump avoids nicely.
Walker misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Gump takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.
Walker pushing out the jab but it's not landing.
Gump shoots in for a double leg but Walker sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Horrible takedown by Gump or perhaps it was just good defense by Walker which made him look bad.
Gump avoids the head kick by Walker.

and Gump counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.

Gump rushes Walker and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Walker has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Gump avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.
Walker is breathing heavily.

Gump pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Walker looks for a takedown but Gump sprawls well.

That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! Walker crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from Gump - the referee stops the clock and Walker gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says Gump. Walker manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes.

Gump lands with a straight right. Walker didn't see that one coming.

Gump changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Walker fights it off and pushes away nicely.

Gump pushes forward with a 1-2 combination that forces Walker back to the cage. Gump follows up with a solid lead hook to the liver.

Gump closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.

Gump breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Gump shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Walker as he jumps to the side.
Gump scores with a punch to the head.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Gump throws a quick inside leg kick.
Gump misses with a takedown attempt - Walker sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Gump is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Walker looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Walker throws a leg kick that misses.

Gump closes the distance and pushes Walker back into the cage.

Gump pulls Walker into guard.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.
Gump seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Walker prevents Gump from getting back to his feet.

Gump is controlling Walker's posture.
Walker wants to pass the guard but Gump is keeping the position.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Forrest Gump wasn't active enough on the ground.

Gump moves into range and clinches up with Walker.

Gump escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Walker tries to score a power double leg takedown but Gump sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Walker somewhat.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Damien Walker. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Gump fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Walker, pushing him back against the cage.

Gump breaks from the clinch.
Gump shoots in looking for a takedown. Walker tries to sprawl out of it but Gump keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Walker manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
This is turning into a torrid day at the office for Walker. He's trying desperately to land a takedown but he's failing miserably and getting slapped silly on the feet to compound his misery.
Gump changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Walker tries to avoid it but Gump manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Walker to the ground. Walker escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Walker tries to keep at a distance but Gump has taken the fight into the clinch.

Gump's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Gump lands a kick to the ribs of his opponent. Nice work there - in and out in a flash.
Gump connects with a solid leg kick.
Gump shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Walker pinned against the cage. Walker gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

Gump moves into the clinch.

Gump pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Gump avoids the clinch attempt nicely.

Gump lands a body punch - he's looking to wear down Walker.

Damien Walker seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Gump lets loose with a powerful body kick. Walker will feel that in the morning.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Walker is trying to control but can't.
Gump keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Forrest Gump hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.

Well Gump has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
