Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Jeff Loid (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and DaeKwon Smith (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Jeff Loid has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jeff Loid!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, DaeKwon Smith!
The judges for this bout are Gwen Towbar, Frank Dennis and Robert Twigg.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Smith listening to his corner there, landing a nice uppercut.

Loid drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
Loid keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Smith's head.
Loid throwing strikes but missing.
Loid throws a big elbow that misses.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Loid is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound.
Smith really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Loid. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Loid won't allow Smith to sweep him here.
Loid wants to control from the top but Smith keeps moving.
Loid postures up in Smith's guard and throws a big left but Smith blocks it.
Loid loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.

Smith has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Loid can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Loid accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Loid is looking to work some ground and pound but Smith has wrist control.
Loid keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Smith's head.

Smith has momentary wrist control but Loid slips an elbow through the middle.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Loid accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Loid connects with a couple of short punches.

Loid drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Loid jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Loid drops back, looking for a kneebar! Smith looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Smith looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Smith!
Loid is breathing heavily.
You can see the frustration on Loid's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Smith stands up and we're back to a striking position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jeff Loid dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Smith keeps the fight on the outside.
Loid takes a body punch but keeps moving.
Loid defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Smith.

Loid drives through and clinches with Smith against the cage.
Loid gets underhooks to prevent Smith's takedown attempt.
Smith controlling the action here for a moment.

Smith has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Loid uses from the top position.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Smith has his feet on Loid's hips. He pushes off and gets to his feet. Nice work.

Smith gets caught flat footed, as Loid shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Loid is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Smith is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Smith is looking to regain half guard here but Loid keeps moving and retains side control.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Loid cracks Smith with a big right hand but Smith just smiles back at him and invites him to have another go.
Loid is putting a hurting on Smith here, landing some big shots from side control.
Smith is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!



Smith clinches up against the cage.
Smith tries to pull guard but Loid holds him up against the cage and eventually Smith drops back down to his feet.
Loid drops down looking for an ankle pick but Smith pulls his leg out and moves away.
Loid tries a head kick but it misses.
Loid tries to close the distance and clinch up but Smith swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Smith fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.

The fight stays on the outside here - Loid looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Jeff Loid seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Loid goes for a double leg but Smith avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Smith continues to drive forward.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Loid is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Smith to keep the fight standing.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jeff Loid. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Smith is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage.

Loid blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning.
Loid is trying to drag Smith to the mat but Smith just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.

Loid's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Smith shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Loid as he avoids it easily.
Jeff Loid is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

and Smith holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.

and Smith counters with a three punch combo that has Loid backing up. Loid nods at Smith to acknowledge the strikes.
Smith works over Loid's head and body with a nice combination.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Smith comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.

Smith misses with a head kick.

Smith scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
You can see the frustration on Loid's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Loid tries to buck Smith off but Smith is having none of it.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Smith prevents Loid from escaping the position.

Smith has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.
Smith is looking to clinch but Loid is avoiding it.
Loid takes one on the chin but keeps coming.
Smith tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Loid defends well and Smith ends up having to push Loid into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.

Loid successfully pulls guard.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Smith seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Loid is looking to stand up but Smith isn't so interested in that idea.

And that's the end of the fight!
DaeKwon Smith comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Loid has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
