And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Trevor Gratis, Alec Ball and Dillan Fox.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ward shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Shields but Shields pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Ward lands a jab.

Ward gets a clinch.
Shields has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Ward after a bit of a struggle.
Shields tries for a takedown. No joy.

Shields has moved round to his opponent's back and is looking for a suplex! Oh snap! He's tossed Ward clear over his head and slammed him to the mat!
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.
Shields gets his hands free as Ward looks to control.
Ward is trying to break free.
Shields avoiding Ward 's attempts to control his hands.

Shields is looking for the choke from the back position but Ward is controlling his hands well.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
I really don't envy Ward right now.
Ward really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Shields. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Shields lands shots from the back.
Ward covers up after that shot from Shields.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Shields throws a big right hand but he misses and hits the mat. Ouch.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Ward is defending well here and trying to improve his position.
Shields connects with a series of strikes and the referee is calling for Ward to escape the position.
Ward tries to roll but Shields sticks to his back.
Ward holding both Shields 's hands and preventing any damage.

Shields has the hooks in and he's looking for a rear naked choke here. Ward is defending well but eventually Shields manages to get an arm under the chin and he's locked on the RNC! Ward has no choice but to tap now! He does! This one is all over!

A relieved looking Tj Shields thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
