PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Diogo Duarte (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ryan Scorn (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Duarte comes into the arena with Dragon ball GT blaring out of the sound system. Ryan Scorn told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Duarte tries to clinch there but Scorn circles away.
Duarte throws a half hearted mid kick.
Duarte misses with a takedown attempt
and Scorn counters with a stiff right hand.
Scorn scores with a head kick.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Duarte.
Duarte throws a body kick but he wasn't in range.
Duarte looks for a takedown but Scorn sprawls well.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Diogo Duarte. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Duarte throws a series of punches but Scorn avoids them all with ease.
Duarte throws a sloppy head kick
and Scorn makes the exchange count by landing a cracking kick to the body. Duarte really felt that one!

Scorn gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Scorn pushes Duarte off and gets back to his feet.
Duarte moves to clinch but Scorn breaks away
and Scorn counters with a low kick, right behind Duarte 's knee.
Duarte throws a low kick but Scorn moves out of range easily.
Duarte wants to clinch up but Scorn keeps it at a distance.
A chopping leg kick lands by Scorn.
Duarte is trying hard to land a takedown here. Scorn sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
Duarte really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Scorn misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.

Duarte on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those.
Duarte stuns Scorn with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range.
Duarte loads up on a big right hand but Scorn slips the punch.
Scorn moves out of range as Duarte strikes.
Duarte shoots in but Scorn avoids the takedown attempt easily.

and Scorn counters with a body kick that stops Duarte in his tracks momentarily.

Duarte doesn't manage to clinch there - Scorn circles away.

Scorn closes this distance looking for a takedown but Duarte circles away.
Diogo Duarte seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Scorn scores with a slapping inside leg kick.
Duarte dives in and grabs Scorn's left leg, looking for a takedown. Scorn pushes down on Duarte's head and hops out.

and Scorn counters with an inside leg kick.

Duarte fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Scorn sprawls well initially but Duarte persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

Duarte is looking for a kimura but Scorn is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Duarte to get the leverage.
Duarte is breathing heavily.
Scorn makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Scorn.
Duarte might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Duarte throws an elbow that misses. Scorn uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Duarte's guard. Nice move by Scorn!

Scorn postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Scorn forces his way into half guard.
Scorn drops an elbow to the side of Duarte's head.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Scorn works his foot free and advances to mount.
Scorn is landing with some decent strikes but Duarte is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.

Scorn pushes Duarte up against the cage in a clinch.
Duarte is trying to pull guard but Scorn has him pressed against the cage.
Duarte jumps guard but Scorn turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.
The referee is keeping an eye on Duarte - much more stalling and he will separate the fighters.
Duarte wants to break free but Scorn has control.
Duarte tries a knee to the head but Scorn blocks it.

Scorn pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Duarte looking to throw a kick but he's pulled out of it.
That kick from Duarte tenderised Scorn's leg. Scorn is trying to keep his angry face on.

Scorn lands a jab-cross combination.
Duarte fails to land the takedown.

A nice inside leg kick there by Scorn. That's going to slow Duarte down.
Duarte closes the distance but Scorn moves to the side
and he gets countered with a snapping leg kick.

Duarte dives in and grabs Scorn's left leg, looking for a takedown. Scorn pushes down on Duarte's head and hops out.

Scorn darts in and clinches Duarte up against the cage.
Duarte blocks an elbow strike.
Scorn lands an elbow that stopped Duarte in his tracks for a moment.
Scorn throws an elbow but it's blocked.
The fighters are starting to get sweaty, which will make takedowns a bit more tricky.
Scorn lands an elbow inside.

Scorn's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Duarte has his takedown stuffed
and Scorn counters with a kick to the head that grazes his opponent. Duarte is lucky that one didn't land flush.
Duarte looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Duarte closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Scorn did well to prevent Duarte getting side control.

Scorn wants to get back to his feet.
Duarte is nestled in close to Scorn, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
Duarte tries to stand and escape but Scorn is controlling the position.
Scorn is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Duarte's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Duarte's back!

Scorn is cranking Duarte's head sideways - that looks painful. He's managed to get his other arm under the chin and this looks bad for Duarte! He's tightened the choke and Duarte is tapping out!
