PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Choppy Jensen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Randy Jones (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Choppy Jensen!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Randy Jones!
The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, Timothy Bukovac and Don Winkell.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jones scores with a jab to the body.
Jensen connects with a jab.


It looks like Randy Jones has been cut.
Jensen takes a swing at Jones's ribcage but misses.
Jensen takes a body punch but keeps moving.
Jones scores with the left hand. Jensen knows he should have avoided that one.
Horrible takedown by Jones or perhaps it was just good defense by Jensen which made him look bad.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Jones digs a right hand into Jensen's ribs. Those have got to be taking their toll on Jensen's gas tank.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.
Jensen keeping moving, preventing Jones from controlling successfully.
Jones stands and throws Jensen's legs to the side, diving into side control.

Jones is trying to get an arm triangle but Jensen is defending well.

Jones tries for a kimura but Jensen is defending well.

Jones is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Jensen has escaped the position, nice work there.

Jones stands up and we're back to a striking position.

Jones pushes Jensen up against the cage in a clinch.

Jones manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Jones throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.
Jones pulls Jensen in close to prevent any damage.
Jensen has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Jensen is stalling in the full guard.
Jones looking to hit a scissor sweep but Jensen is one step ahead there.

Jensen got a little sloppy there for a moment and Jones has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Jensen has managed to get both his arms back between Jones's legs - danger averted.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Choppy Jensen just wasn't active enough.
Jensen keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.

Jones ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent.

Jones tries to score a power double leg takedown but Jensen sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Jones somewhat.

Jones lands with a straight right. Jensen didn't see that one coming.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Jones tries to clinch up but Jensen circles away and keeps his distance.
Jensen throws a hook but Jones avoids it easily.
Jones avoids a punch combination nicely.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Jones looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Jensen is fending him off so far but Jones persists. Nope, Jensen circles away and we're back to standing.
Jones takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Randy Jones dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Randy Jones's cut.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Jensen throws a combination that misses
and Jones cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Jensen drops his hands momentarily and Jones takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.
The fight stays on the outside here - Jones looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Jones shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
Jones tries to pass the half guard into mount. Jensen knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.

Jones is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.

Randy Jones has got the better of the ground game so far.

Jensen is defending against the submission attempts here by Jones.
Jensen trying to hold on to Jones's head to control him but Jones postures up.
Jones is keen to just control but Jensen is a slippery customer.

Jones is looking for a kimura here.
Jones tries to pass to full mount but Jensen defends it.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Jensen is looking to improve his position.

Jones is looking for a kimura but Jensen is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Jones to get the leverage.
Jones keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action.

Jones has hold of the far side arm. He's working for the Kimura, can Jensen defend it? Jones steps over the head and cranks it - Jensen is tapping out! That was textbook stuff right there - nice submission victory for Jones!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:05 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Randy Jones!
A very excited looking Randy Jones made sure he remembered to thank all the fans both in the arena and on the internet. He said all the coolest people spend all day on MMA websites, which got a big reaction.
