The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A nice inside leg kick there by Hughes. That's going to slow Kawajiri down.
Hughes throws a sloppy head kick and Kawajiri moves out of range easily.

Kawajiri jumps guard and drags Hughes to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.
Hughes tries to free his leg and advance position but Kawajiri is retaining full guard.
