The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Good standup being displayed there by Rogers as he connects with a hook.

It looks like Bob Franklin has been cut.
Rogers throws a good cross that connects.

Franklin scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.

Franklin misses with a head shot. Rogers uses the momentum to regain guard.
Rogers looking to hit a scissor sweep but Franklin is one step ahead there.

Rogers manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Franklin manages to get himself to full guard.

Franklin has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Rogers can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Franklin can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Rogers controls the pace.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Rogers tries to free his leg and advance position but Franklin is retaining full guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Steve Rogers wasn't doing enough on the ground.
Franklin takes a jab right on the kisser.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Kneeeeees! The crowd are calling for knees to the body. Rogers obliges.
Rogers lands with a short shot to the head.

Rogers wants the takedown. Franklin is fighting it off but Rogers persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Franklin's guard against the cage.
Rogers slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

Steve Rogers has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet.

Franklin drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles.

That has opened up Bob Franklin's cut even more.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Rogers cracks Franklin with a big right hand that sends him to the floor! Franklin looks wobbly but he's sprung back up to his feet straight away… can Rogers finish him?

Franklin is rocked!
Franklin drops his hands momentarily. Rogers doesn't need a second invitation, landing a shot to the temple. Franklin staggers and falls to the mat and the ref dives in to save him from any more punishment. Franklin doesn't seem happy with the stoppage but he was done.
