PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Davor Sakic (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jack Kerns (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Sakic comes into the arena with Hail mary Tupac Shakur blaring out of the sound system. Kerns is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Johnny Cash - Hurt. I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Davor Sakic!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jack Kerns!
The judges for this bout are Reed Andrews, Columbo Gatti and Alyssa Summers.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sakic tries to clinch up but Kerns circles away and keeps his distance.
Sakic blocks a head kick by Kerns.
Kerns throws a series of punches but Sakic avoids them all with ease.

Kerns feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Kerns wants to control from the top but Sakic keeps moving.
Kerns trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
Kerns postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.

Kerns thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

Sakic has his foot on Kerns's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Kerns works his way back into a safe position though.
Kerns stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Sakic swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Kerns is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Sakic shoots in looking for a takedown. Kerns tries to sprawl out of it but Sakic keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Kerns manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Kerns feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Kerns works a leg free and moves into half guard.

Kerns throws a hook to the side of Sakic's head but Sakic sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Kerns missing with a left hand there. Sakic was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
Sakic gets cracked with a nice right hand there by Kerns.
Kerns throws a sloppy head kick and Sakic moves out of range easily.

Kerns looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Kerns misses with a looping left.

Kerns avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Sakic ducks under a wild hook from Kerns.

Kerns throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Sakic tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Sakic keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Kerns lands a head kick. Sakic smiles back at him and beckons him forward.

Sakic darts in and clinches Kerns up against the cage.
Sakic tries a knee to the head but he's missed.

Kerns breaks the clinch.

Sakic closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Kerns sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard.
Kerns flails away from the bottom but he's not doing any damage.
Sakic landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent.
Sakic seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Kerns does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Kerns quickly switches position and commits to an armbar! It's a big risk for Kerns but it's paid off an Sakic is forced to tap! Nice work by Kerns.
