Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Brandon Couture (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Dan Smith (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Couture comes to the cage accompanied by Mama said knock you out. Smith comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Sabaton- Metal machine kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

The judges for this bout are James Ackerman, William Gold and Chris Edwards.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Smith misses with a takedown attempt - Couture sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Couture throws a hook but Smith avoids it easily.
Smith shoots for a double leg takedown but Couture sprawls well. He's pushed Smith's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Couture just misses with a punch to the body.

Smith fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Couture to the ground. Smith is now in Couture's guard.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Dan Smith.
Smith dives in for a single leg takedown but Couture sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.
Couture has Smith pressed against the cage, preventing Smith from circling away and getting back to striking at range.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!
Smith darts in looking for a takedown but Couture gets double underhooks and turns Smith into the cage.
Couture escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Smith changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Couture tries to avoid it but Smith manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Couture to the ground. Couture escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Couture lands with a hook. Smith tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head.
Couture bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.

and Couture counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Smith shoots in for a double leg but Couture sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.

and he gets countered with a snapping leg kick.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Smith dives in and grabs Couture's left leg, looking for a takedown. Couture pushes down on Smith's head and hops out.

We've been told by Couture's head coaches at London MMA Club that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight.

and Couture connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.

Smith might want to mix his strikes up a bit more. He's just going for head shots at the moment and that can become a bit predictable.
