PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Era Ojdanic (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Akiro Sata (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd seem to be enjoying Sata's choice of entrance music: Onward to Victory!. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Era Ojdanic!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 6 - 0, fighting out of New York, Akiro Sata!
The judges for this bout are Arvi Lind, Tarja Halkonen and Matti Vanhoillinen.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Sata shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Sata was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Sata is looking to take a break and control but Ojdanic is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Sata misses with an attempted head punch from side control.
Ojdanic seems a little lost for a moment, as Sata dominates the positioning.

Sata tries for a kimura but Ojdanic is defending well.
Ojdanic is trying to control Sata's posture but Sata avoids it.
Ojdanic tries to bench press Sata off him but Sata keeps the position.

Sata lands an elbow.
Ojdanic is not content to let Sata control the position.
Ojdanic parries the strikes from Sata easily there. Sata is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Ojdanic to escape.
Sata wants to control but Ojdanic is keeping him busy.

Sata working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.

Sata thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Sata throwing ground and pound but whilst doing so, he forgets to control position and Ojdanic works his way back to half guard. Good composure under pressure.

Sata moves into full mount! Ojdanic won't be happy about that!

Sata goes for an armbar but Ojdanic turns quickly into his guard - lovely anticipation from Ojdanic.

Sata looks to be working for a triangle here. Oh, it looks like he might have it! Ojdanic has picked Sata up and slammed him! Sata can't keep hold of the triangle and Ojdanic manages to pass to side control!

Sata tries to bench press Ojdanic off him but Ojdanic keeps the position.
Sata is still trying to improve position.
Sata throws a couple of elbows from the bottom.

Ojdanic is looking to take a break and control but Sata is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Sata is looking for a sweep.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.



Sata moves into the clinch successfully.
Sata lands a left hand that snaps the head of Ojdanic backwards.
Ojdanic's head jolts backwards as he takes an uppercut right on the button!
Ojdanic blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning.

Ojdanic ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Ojdanic no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.
Sata wants to control from the top but Ojdanic keeps moving.
Sata with a flurry of punches that miss.

Sata drops back, looking for a kneebar! Ojdanic looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Ojdanic looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Ojdanic!
Sata is looking for a sweep.

Sata is trying to control Ojdanic's posture but Ojdanic avoids it.
Sata has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Sata regains half guard.
Akiro Sata has got the better of the ground game so far.

Ojdanic is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Sata has managed to free his arm - good work.
Sata trying to control but Ojdanic postures up.
Sata moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
Sata is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Sata has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Ojdanic can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Sata throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Ojdanic escapes and throws Sata's legs to the side, diving into side control!
Sata is not content to let Ojdanic control the position.
Sata wants to control but Ojdanic postures up.
Sata is looking for a sweep.

Ojdanic decides to stand back up. Ojdanic steps back and let's Sata get back to his feet.

Ojdanic scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.

Sata is defending against the submission attempts here by Ojdanic.

Ojdanic is working for a kimura but Sata is defending it quite comfortably.

Sata is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Ojdanic pulls his head out easily.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close second round but Akiro Sata will probably get the nod - 10:9.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.



Excellent takedown into side control there by Ojdanic.

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Sata connects with a nice short shot to Ojdanic's temple.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Sata not landing any meaningful shots this time.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Sata lands a nice short elbow.

Sata looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Ojdanic wants to control the action here but instead Sata manages to pass to full mount!

Sata throws an elbow from mount that misses. Lucky escape for Ojdanic because Sata loaded up on that one.
Sata thowing strikes but they're hitting the gloves, not doing any damage.

Sata misses with a series of strikes from mount. He'll no doubt be working on his ground and pound when he gets back to the gym.

Sata goes for an armbar but he's not got it… Ojdanic turns into him and now he's in Sata's guard.
Akiro Sata is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
Sata lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Ojdanic!
Ojdanic is squirming around, avoiding Sata's attempts to control the action.

And that's the end of the fight!
Akiro Sata comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Sata has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
