Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Nick Alves (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Guillermo Benitez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Benitez has chosen Avenged Sevenfold - Welcome To The Family as his entrance music. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Alves fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Benitez sprawls well initially but Alves persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

Alves seems to have lost interest with the ground game and is thinking about standing back up.
Well, if Alves is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.

Alves feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
