Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Humberto Cabrera (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Paul McBride (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). McBride has chosen Kick start my heart as his entrance music. Paul McBride looks lathargic as he enters the arena. Wake up son, you're about to have a fight!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Humberto Cabrera!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Paul McBride!
The judges for this bout are Gregory Folan, Dillan Fox and Elvis Blanc.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Cabrera shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has McBride pinned against the cage. McBride gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

McBride moves into the clinch.
Cabrera throws a vicious knee straight up the middle but McBride blocks it with crossed arms.
Cabrera is trying to pull guard but McBride turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch.

McBride has moved round to his opponent's back and is looking for a suplex! Oh snap! He's tossed Cabrera clear over his head and slammed him to the mat!
I really don't envy Cabrera right now.
The crowd hopeful of a finish here - McBride's supporters are on their feet, screaming for him to go for the rear naked choke.
Cabrera can't escape the position.

McBride tries to get the hooks in deep but Cabrera pushed the leg off.
McBride is controlling his opponent, waiting for an opportunity to finish.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Oooh a big shot gets through from McBride. Many more shots like that and the referee will have to think about stepping in!
Cabrera looks to control his opponent's hands but he's not mananging it at the moment.
McBride lands punches and elbows.
Cabrera trying to control but he's just got himself in more trouble.
McBride lands with a big left hand that may well have hurt his opponent. Can Cabrera hold on?!
McBride throws a big right hand but he misses and hits the mat. Ouch.

Cabrera is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because McBride is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.
McBride tries to get the hooks in deep but Cabrera pushed the leg off.

McBride is remaining active here, looking for the choke. The more discerning members of the crowd will appreciate his efforts.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

McBride working for a RNC but it's not happening just yet.

Paul McBride dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


McBride throws a series of strikes that have Cabrera backpedaling.
Cabrera is looking to clinch but McBride is avoiding it.
No luck for Cabrera with that takedown attempt.

enabling McBride to counter with a crisp jab.

Cabrera bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Cabrera wants to stand but McBride is controlling his arm.
Cabrera wants to lay and pray for a moment but McBride keeps working.
McBride manages to work his way to half guard, despite Cabrera's best efforts.
McBride trying to hold on to Cabrera's head to control him but Cabrera postures up.
McBride is breathing heavily.

Cabrera is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and McBride defends it well.

McBride holds on for dear life, maintaining half guard for now.

McBride tries to get to full guard but Cabrera has control of the leg.
Cabrera thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed McBride's head.

Cabrera wants to work for an arm triangle but McBride is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
McBride really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Cabrera. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Cabrera utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Cabrera working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. McBride doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. McBride manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

McBride postures up and lands a big shot to Cabrera's brow.
McBride works over Cabrera with some ground and pound from guard.
Cabrera has a closed guard, preventing McBride from standing up.

Cabrera has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but McBride can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
McBride trying to control the position from guard on top but Cabrera is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

A close second round but Paul McBride will probably get the nod - 10:9.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!


McBride throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Cabrera stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
McBride connects with a single shot there.
Cabrera is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Cabrera tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but McBride paws at him with a jab and circles away.
McBride scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Cabrera doesn't seem bothered though.

Humberto Cabrera is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Cabrera feints and then cracks McBride's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow McBride down.
McBride takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
McBride moves out of range of the body kick from Cabrera.
McBride misses with a double jab.

McBride shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. McBride showed some decent athleticism there.

Cabrera wants to get back to full guard.
Cabrera is looking to control McBride's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Cabrera avoid being mounted?

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
McBride wants to control but Cabrera is keeping him busy.

The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.
Cabrera is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
McBride is keen to just control but Cabrera is a slippery customer.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

McBride rushes Cabrera and presses him up against the cage.
McBride blocks an elbow strike from Cabrera.
Cabrera jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as McBride walks away with a smile on his face. Cabrera gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Cabrera throws a body kick but he was well out of range there.

McBride fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Cabrera sprawls well initially but McBride persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
McBride is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Cabrera looking for submissions off his back.

Cabrera is trying to stand up here but McBride is controlling him well.
Cabrera slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.
McBride looking to pass the guard.
McBride has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Cabrera is proving hard to escape from.

McBride wants to control from the top but Cabrera keeps moving.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Paul McBride hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.
McBride stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and McBride wants it to stay on the feet.
Humberto Cabrera has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Paul McBride is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
Cabrera throws a wild combination but nothing lands.

Paul McBride comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well McBride has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
