PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Daniel Bryan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Juan Diego Salazar (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Daniel Bryan!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Juan Diego Salazar!
The judges for this bout are Chris Downing, Alan Glass and Tiny Johnson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Salazar gets the takedown into side control.
Bryan is looking to reverse the position.

Salazar stands up and beckons Bryan to his feet.

Salazar closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Bryan's guard.

Salazar drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Bryan manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Salazar has Bryan in his guard.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Bryan is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Bryan postures up in Salazar's guard and throws a big left but Salazar blocks it.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Bryan controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
Salazar keeping moving, preventing Bryan from controlling successfully.
Bryan is really struggling to control Salazar but he's trying to hold on to the position.
Bryan controls the pace of the fight for a moment.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Daniel Bryan just wasn't active enough.
Salazar tries to clinch up.

Bryan fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Salazar, pushing him back against the cage.
With the two fighters working up against the cage, Salazar just misses with a elbow thrown towards Bryan's brow.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Bryan tightens his grip and picks Salazar up, before dumping him to the ground. Salazar manages to land in guard.
Bryan has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Salazar is proving hard to escape from.
Bryan is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
Bryan throws an elbow that misses. Salazar uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Bryan's guard. Nice move by Salazar!
Salazar trying to control but Bryan is working from the bottom.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Bryan tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Bryan is adopting a defensive guard.
Salazar wants to control from the top but Bryan keeps moving.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Salazar scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
Bryan manages to work his way to half guard, despite Salazar's best efforts.
Salazar tries to pass the half guard into mount. Bryan knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Salazar in particular looking to stall.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Salazar is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Bryan doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Salazar.
Bryan trying to hold on to Salazar's head to control him but Salazar postures up.

Salazar looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Bryan holds on for dear life, maintaining half guard for now.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Juan Diego Salazar will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Salazar circles away from the clinch attempt.

Salazar dives in and scores a takedown into Bryan's guard.
Salazar trying to control the position from guard on top but Bryan is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Salazar is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Bryan is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Bryan has escaped and now he's on top!

Salazar has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Bryan can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Daniel Bryan.

Bryan has Salazar up against the cage in a clinch.

Bryan tightens his grip and picks Salazar up, before dumping him to the ground. Salazar manages to land in guard.
Salazar not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

Salazar looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Bryan postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.
Bryan throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Salazar works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Bryan wants to control from the top but Salazar keeps moving.
Salazar can't keep his opponent in guard - Bryan advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
Bryan is looking to take a break and control but Salazar is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Bryan seems like he's working for an arm triangle here. He's freed his trapped foot and he's rotating nicely. Salazar is in big trouble! He's tapping out! This one is aaaaaaaaaaaall over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:58 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Arm Triangle). Daniel Bryan!
After winning the bout, Daniel Bryan thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility.
