Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Patrick Patterson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jake Wallace (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Jake Wallace is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Patrick Patterson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Jake Wallace!
The judges for this bout are , Jack Bonds and Don Winkell.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Patterson shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Wallace napping and manages to drive through into side control!
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Wallace is not content to let Patterson control the position.
Wallace is looking for a sweep.
Wallace is trying to control Patterson's posture but Patterson avoids it.

Patterson looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.

Patterson thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Wallace sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard.
Wallace blocking the ground and pound attempt from Patterson.

Wallace is defending against the submission attempts here by Patterson.

Jake Wallace seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Patterson fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Wallace sprawls well initially but Patterson persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Patterson would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.

Wallace drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Wallace jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

You can see the frustration on Patterson's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

Wallace swings around for an armbar but Patterson sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Wallace's guard.
Patterson is pushing down on Wallace's leg trying to pass to half guard. Wallace is fighting to maintain full guard but Patterson has managed to sneak the leg through.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Patterson wants to take a breather but Wallace is having none of it.
Wallace is looking to improve his position.
Patterson is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Jake Wallace will probably get the nod.
That's time! Patterson's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.


Wallace dives in and grabs Patterson's left leg, looking for a takedown. Patterson pushes down on Wallace's head and hops out.

Patterson decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Patterson is trying to control the action in half guard but Wallace is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.

Patterson is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Wallace doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Patterson.

Wallace is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Patterson pulls his head out easily.

Wallace has his foot on Patterson's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Patterson works his way back into a safe position though.

Wallace working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Patterson doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Patterson manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close second round but I would say that Patrick Patterson will probably get the nod.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!



Patterson closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Wallace quickly recovers to half guard.

Patterson is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Wallace is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Patterson's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Patterson's back!

Patterson is staying cool under pressure, defending well against the rear naked choke attempt from his opponent.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Wallace controlling well, preventing Patterson from escaping the position.

Wallace is working for the rear naked choke. He has one arm under the chin but Patterson has hold of the other arm. A bit of a stalemate here.
Wallace is trying to stick to Patterson's back but Patterson is turning into Wallace. He's managed to reverse the position - now he's in Wallace's guard. Polite applause from the crowd in appreciation of some nice Jiu Jitsu by Patterson.

Wallace pushes a forearm under Patterson's chin to create some space. He's escaped his hips and pivoted quickly for an armbar! Can he extend the arm? Yes, Patterson is tapping out! Damn, that was fast!
