PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Klaus Saenger (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jay Jay (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Jay Jay was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 7 - 0, fighting out of London, Klaus Saenger!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Jay Jay!
The judges for this bout are Richard Clark, Colin Fotheringham and James Atkins.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jay closes this distance looking for a takedown but Saenger circles away.
Jay swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Jay Jay seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Jay tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Jay shoots in for a takedown but Saenger shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.

Saenger fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Jay to the ground. Saenger is now in Jay's guard.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
Saenger postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.
Jay can't keep his opponent in guard - Saenger advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.

Saenger seems to be looking for submissions.

Saenger is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Jay defends it well.
Saenger has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Jay is staying active underneath Saenger, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

Saenger is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Jay sees it coming and defends easily.
Jay flails away from the bottom but he's not doing any damage.

Saenger is trying to get back to his feet now but his leg is trapped.
Jay really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Saenger. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Saenger thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Jay's head.
Jay tries to roll over but Saenger keeps him under control.
Jay wants to control but Saenger is keeping busy and won't allow it.
Saenger winds up and cracks Jay with a swinging punch to the side of the head.
Saenger takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.

Saenger is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Saenger wants to pass to mount but Jay is defending the position.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Saenger in particular looking to stall.

Jay wants to get back to full guard.

Saenger slips a nice elbow through Jay's hands, connecting with Jay's forehead.

Saenger is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
Saenger tries to stand and escape but Jay is controlling the position.
Saenger seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Jay does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
Jay flails away from the bottom but he's not doing any damage.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Saenger is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Jay defends it well.
Jay has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Saenger is working away from the top position though.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Jay tries to get to full guard but Saenger has control of the leg.
Saenger is thwarting Jay's attempts to control the position.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Saenger wants to get up but he can't break Jay's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
Jay is looking to stand up but Saenger isn't so interested in that idea.
Saenger working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Jay's head.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Saenger keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Jay's head.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!


Nice takedown defense from Jay. No joy for Saenger on that attempt.

Saenger tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Saenger has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Saenger has hold of Jay's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Jay manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.

Saenger is stalling here. Jay is in no mood to hang around though. He's locked up a kimura from the bottom! Saenger seems to be keeping calm but he's forced to roll out of the hold and Jay has ended up in side control on the top. Nice work.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Saenger, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
