The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
King slaps away a takedown attempt from Eikmeyer, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Eikmeyer tries to score a power double leg takedown but King sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Eikmeyer somewhat.
King fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.

Eikmeyer tries to keep at a distance but King has taken the fight into the clinch.
King lands a knee to the head.
Eikmeyer tries for a takedown. No joy.
Gavin King has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Mario Eikmeyer.

King has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Eikmeyer is working away from the top position though.

Eikmeyer postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. King looks a forlorn figure.
King is in a horrible position here. Eikmeyer smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.

Eikmeyer has hold of King's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and King manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.

King tries to reverse the position but Eikmeyer maintains control.

In his post fight interview, Mario Eikmeyer started talking himself up. Luckily his charisma kept the crowd on side and gave him a good reception.
