Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Mike Stevens (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mike Materson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Mike Stevens has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Stevens gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily

and Materson counters with a takedown into side control.
Stevens has one of Materson's arms on lockdown, trying to prevent him from doing any damage.
Materson tries to score with some ground and pound. Stevens controls his posture well this time though and the shots don't do any damage.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

That was a close round but I would say that Mike Stevens will probably get the nod.

Materson drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Stevens manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Materson has Stevens in his guard.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Stevens accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

Stevens motions for Materson to come forward. Stevens throws a leg kick but it misses it's target.
Stevens throws a 1-2 combo that connects squarely on Materson's jaw, knocking him onto his back! Stevens dives in looking to finish as Materson flails his arms in a desperate attempt to block Stevens's strikes! Stevens is raining down hammerfists and the ref stops it! Materson's desperate flailing just didn't constitute intelligent defence. Some people will probably question the ref's decision but Materson was definitely hurt and the ref saved him from taking unnecessary punishment. A fighter's safety is paramount in this sport.
