PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Gilbert Givinaldo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mark Turnbull (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Turnbull has chosen "Haka" as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Gilbert Givinaldo!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Mark Turnbull!
The judges for this bout are Tiny Johnson, Frank Dennis and Stewart Dunkirk.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Turnbull tries to close the distance and clinch but Givinaldo swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

Givinaldo dives in and scores a takedown into Turnbull's guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Turnbull looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it.
Givinaldo pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Turnbull is keeping the position for now.
Turnbull looking to hit a scissor sweep but Givinaldo is one step ahead there.

Givinaldo trying to control but Turnbull is working from the bottom.
Givinaldo controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Gilbert Givinaldo.
Givinaldo fails with the takedown.
Givinaldo tries to score with a leg kick but it misses it's target.
Turnbull lands with a straight right. Givinaldo didn't see that one coming.
Turnbull tests Givinaldo's chin there with a solid looking shot.

It looks like Gilbert Givinaldo has been cut.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Turnbull is looking to clinch.
Turnbull tries to close the distance and clinch but Givinaldo swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

Turnbull takes the fight into the clinch.
Givinaldo is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage.
A shot in the inside from Turnbull.
Givinaldo fails to pull the fight into his guard.
Turnbull makes some space for himself and lands an uppercut.
Turnbull softening up his opponent with strikes, against the cage.
Turnbull lands with a right to the head.
The referee is keeping an eye on Turnbull - much more stalling and he will separate the fighters.
Turnbull lands a left hand.
Turnbull gets through Givinaldo's defenses to land a nice punch to the side of the head.
Turnbull lands a body punch.

Turnbull lands a hook that snaps the head of Givinaldo backwards.

Turnbull lands a big right hand that sends Givinaldo to the canvas! This could be the beginning of the end for Givinaldo!

Givinaldo is rocked!
Turnbull wants to stand but Givinaldo has hold of a leg and an arm, so he's trapped for now.
Oh Givinaldo is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
Turnbull looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Givinaldo with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Turnbull is sitting in half guard. He's postured up and lands a nice elbow. Oh, Givinaldo is hurt! He's hurt bad - Turnbull fires away with more strikes and the referee jumps in to save Givinaldo from any more punishment! Congratulations to Turnbull! Great finish!
