PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Built Win (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Shane Griffin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Win might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to FORE THOSE ABOUT TO ROCK!. The crowd seem to be enjoying Griffin's choice of entrance music: Wait and Bleed by Slipknot. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 18 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Built Win!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 17 - 11 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Shane Griffin!
The judges for this bout are Don Winkell, Timothy Bukovac and .




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Griffin connects with a solid leg kick.
Griffin moves into range and lands a nice body kick.
Win takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.
A head kick misses from Griffin.
Griffin misses with a low kick.
Griffin rushes in with a sloppy looking punch

and Win decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Griffin's guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

Win has gone for a leg lock! Griffin slips out almost immediately though and dives into Win's guard.

Win is looking for a triangle here but Griffin uses the submission attempt to pass into side control.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Win can't do much from the bottom here.
Win tries to improve position but can't.
Win is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Griffin's leg. He's managed it. Nice work.

and Win counters with a takedown into side control! That could mean trouble for Griffin!

Win tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Win has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Win tries for a kimura but Griffin is defending well.
Win will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Griffin is trying to control Win's posture but Win avoids it.

Win wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Griffin, who protects the arm well.

Win thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

Win tries to advance to mount but can't.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Win stands up.
Shane Griffin seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
A nice inside leg kick there by Griffin. That's going to slow Win down.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Win slips under a jab.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Built Win will probably get the nod.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!

Griffin lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise.

so Win counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Win looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

Win is working for a kimura but Griffin is defending it quite comfortably.

Win seems to be looking for submissions.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Griffin is defending against the submission attempts here by Win.
Griffin has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Win is working away from the top position though.

Win looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

Win has decided to stand back up but his arm is trapped. Whilst he's worrying about his arm, Griffin works to full guard.
Win tries to free his leg and advance position but Griffin is retaining full guard.
Griffin seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.
Let's hope that Griffin has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

Built Win is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
A bone on bone clash there as Win blocks the leg kick.

That was a close second round but I would say that Built Win will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. Let's hear some noise people - this is the final round!


Griffin jabbing away but nothing is landing.
Win on the wrong end of a nice hook.
Griffin fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Win manages to avoid it.

Griffin throws an overhand right that lands on Win's shoulder, as Win tries to avoid the shot.
Good leg kick by Griffin there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.
Griffin fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.

Win checks a low kick. Bone on bone - not my idea of a good time.
Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by Griffin.
A slapping leg kick lands for Griffin.
Win on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Griffin. Griffin obviously looking to wear him down.
Griffin throws a quick inside leg kick.
Win chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Griffin can pounce on him.
The step up in weight doesn't seem to be a problem for Griffin. He's performing admirably here against the bigger man.
Win moves away from the strike by Griffin.

Griffin fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Win.
Griffin throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Win moves out of range as Griffin throws a body kick.
Griffin rushes in with a sloppy looking punch

and Win counters with a single leg into guard. Griffin didn't expect that.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Win postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Griffin is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Win, into his guard.

Win throws his legs up looking for a submission but Griffin uses it to pass to side control.
Win tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Griffin wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Win is not in a great position here, taking some shots.
Built Win overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Win is looking to regain half guard here but Griffin keeps moving and retains side control.
Win is not content to let Griffin control the position.
Win regains half guard.
Win wants to improve his position but Griffin is controlling well.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Win looking for submissions from an awkward position here.

Shane Griffin comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Win has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
