The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Peters fails to land the takedown.
Peters shoots in looking for a takedown but Potgieter manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Peters's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Potgieter is looking to clinch but Peters is avoiding it.
Peters changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Potgieter tries to avoid it but Peters manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Potgieter to the ground. Potgieter escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Gary Potgieter has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Vivian Peters.
Peters closes this distance looking for a takedown but Potgieter circles away.
Potgieter tries to close the distance and clinch up but Peters swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Potgieter is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Potgieter lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook.

and Peters connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Peters avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Potgieter tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Peters manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Potgieter closes the distance but Peters moves to the side

Peters is trying to force a seperation but Potgieter has the dominant position.
Peters is looking for a takedown.

Peters has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Potgieter uses from the top position.
Potgieter throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Peters works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Potgieter wants to control from the top but Peters keeps moving.

Potgieter takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position.

Peters lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning.
Potgieter tries to lock up and control but Peters gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Potgieter can't escape the position.
