The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mathison's jab looks to have found its range, popping Thompson under the eye.
Thompson looks to land a right hand but Mathison moved out of range.
Thompson stuffs the takedown.
Nice uppercut there from Thompson.

It looks like David Mathison has been cut.
Thompson throws a sloppy body shot
and Mathison counters with a leg kick.
Thompson throws a right and a left that Mathison avoids nicely.
Thompson connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Mathison's hands.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Mathison moves in looking to clinch but Thompson pushes him off.
Mathison takes a shot to the body in his stride.
Thompson keeps the fight on the outside.

Thompson feints and then winds up with a huge right hand that connects perfectly and sends Mathison sprawling to the canvas! Mathison rolls over backwards and springs off the cage and manages to regain his footing - how acrobatic! Oh, he's still wobbly - can Thompson finish him?!

Thompson misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Mathison.

Mathison closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so.

Mathison is rocked!
Thompson takes a kick to the body and keeps moving.

Thompson drops Mathison with a hook right on the temple. He thinks about going to the ground but Mathison looks back up at him and smiles so Thompson waves him back to his feet - he obviously thinks he can knock him out after that shot landed.
Mathison is still on wobbly legs! Can Thompson finish him?
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Mathison shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Thompson defends it nicely.
Mathison seems to have recovered his senses.
Luis Thompson has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of David Mathison.
Mathison looks winded!
Thompson lands a right hook to the body.
Thompson measures up his opponent and throws a superman punch that connects to the jaw! Down goes Mathison! The ref steps in, and that's the ball game folks!
