PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Blackbeard The Pirate (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Aleksi Hihnavaara (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd seem to be enjoying Hihnavaara's choice of entrance music: Kallio Vice. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
The Pirate lands a pitter patter jab to the forehead of his opponent.
The Pirate misses with a series of wild punches.
Good leg kick by The Pirate there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.
The Pirate throws a head kick but Hihnavaara moves out of range.
Hihnavaara shoots in but The Pirate avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Hihnavaara takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.

Hihnavaara closes the distance and clinches up with The Pirate, looking for a takedown. Hihnavaara pushes The Pirate against the cage but The Pirate circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

Hihnavaara is trying desperately to land a takedown but The Pirate is having absolutely none of it. This is turning into a bit of a nightmare for Hihnavaara.

We're going to have a standup here because Blackbeard The Pirate wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Hihnavaara doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.

Hihnavaara fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Blackbeard The Pirate seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

A decent looking cross lands there for The Pirate.
The Pirate ducks down and throws a hook to the body.

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Hihnavaara takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor.

Hihnavaara feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Hihnavaara is fighting to break The Pirate's control of his arms but The Pirate is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The Pirate drops Hihnavaara with a right and a left! The Pirate comes rushing in but Hihnavaara regains his composure and manages to keep The Pirate in guard.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

The Pirate loads up on a big left hand. Hihnavaara felt that one! He's just covering up now, not defending himself intelligently - The Pirate looks towards the ref and unloads with 3 more big shots and the ref has no choice but to stop the fight! Hihnavaara can't hide his disappointment, as The Pirate celebrates the victory.
