PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Alex Boulder (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Robert Spike (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Boulder might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Voodoo Child. Fingers crossed for an exciting fight - I'm sure both fighters are looking for a nice under the table bonus!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Spike throws a lazy right hand but Boulder sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Spike thows a leg kick but Boulder checks it
and Boulder counters with a three punch combo that has Spike backing up. Spike nods at Boulder to acknowledge the strikes.
Boulder scores with a nice right hand.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Boulder fakes a head shot and lands one to the body.
Boulder clobbers Spike with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.

Boulder lands a high kick to the side of Spike's head that stuns him and send him tumbling down to the canvas! Boulder dives into guard, looking to finish.
Spike preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.

Spike is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Boulder defends well.

Spike is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Spike is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Spike is taking a breather. Boulder says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
Boulder pushes Spike off looking to stand but Spike dives back in and keeps control.

Spike cracks Boulder with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.
Spike has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Spike can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Boulder is looking to escape.

Boulder's corner are shouting for him to stand up but that's bad cornering - how is he meant to stand up when he's mounted? He should be looking to improve his position on the ground before trying to stand back up.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
BOOM! Spike connects with a massive shot to the dome!
Spike lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.

Boulder wants to use the cage to get back to his feet here.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Spike lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning.

Boulder is rocked!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Spike has hold of an arm here, looking to extend it. He's committed to the armbar attempt here! Will he get it?! Yes! Boulder is forced to tap!
