Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Joe Palmer (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Hai Shang (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). This should be a great matchup!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Joe Palmer!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Hai Shang!
The judges for this bout are Jorge Garcia, John Roberts and Eddie Farnsworth.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Palmer waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Shang.
Palmer misses with the combination.
Palmer misses with a two punch combination.
Palmer is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Shang.
Palmer has his front leg slapped to the side - a nice low kick landing there from Shang.
Palmer misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
A looping hook to the body misses from Shang. Palmer does a little dance to reset his feet.
Shang showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Palmer.
Palmer bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Shang's head.
Shang with a nice looking leg kick. You could hear that one land in a back row.
A big left from Palmer misses.
Palmer misses with a series of wild punches.
The fighters circling - Palmer throws out the jab but it was never going to land.

The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Palmer looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Palmer misses with a few strikes there.

and Shang counters with a nice double leg into side control. Palmer won't be happy with that.
Shang scores with a couple of nice shots to the head there. The referee takes a look at Palmer to see if he's OK.
Shang throws a knee to the body but it doesn't do much damage.
Palmer knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Shang on the ground.
Shang cracks Palmer with a big elbow.
The referee asks Shang politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Shang prefers to stall for the moment though.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Shang wants to lay and pray for a moment but Palmer keeps working.
Shang has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Palmer takes a big shot right to the temple there but he's taken it well.

Shang connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused Palmer some visible discomfort.
Palmer avoids any damage from the ground and pound of Shang.

Shang stands up and beckons Palmer to his feet.
Palmer misses with a series of wild punches.
Palmer is breathing heavily.

Palmer falls off balance throwing a combination

and Shang counters with a takedown into side control.
Shang remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.
Shang wants to control for a moment but Palmer uses the opportunity to move back to half guard.
Palmer won't allow Shang to pass to mount.
Shang not landing any meaningful shots this time.
Shang throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
Shang landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent.
Shang looks to score some points with some ground and pound.

Shang stops Palmer from getting back to his feet.
Palmer blocking the ground and pound attempt from Shang.
Shang is looking to pass Palmer's guard but actually Palmer recovers to full guard.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.

Shang stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Palmer swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Palmer is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Shang is controlling him.

Shang advances to half guard.
Palmer is looking to escape.
Shang is pressing down on Palmer's thigh, looking to free his foot. Palmer is holding on for now.
Shang not landing any meaningful shots this time.
Shang seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.
Shang not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
Shang passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Palmer!
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Palmer is bucking up trying to escape but Shang cracks him with another couple of good strikes.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Shang tries to control but Palmer wriggling away.
Shang working away from the top, dropping strikes.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Hai Shang dominated that round.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!


Nice straight punches there by Palmer. You know Roy Jones Jr respects the hands of Palmer.
Palmer pushes forward with a 1-2 combination that forces Shang back to the cage. Palmer follows up with a solid lead hook to the liver.
Palmer misses with a two punch combination.
Shang moves away from the strike by Palmer.
Palmer looks to land a combination but Shang avoids it well.
Palmer takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.
Shang keeps Palmer at a distance using the push kick.
Palmer pivots, looking for a leg kick but Shang is out of range and Palmer settles back down.
Palmer on the wrong end of a nice jab.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Shang moves into the clinch.
Shang working the clinch nicely. Palmer is working for position but Shang cracks him with a big knee to the head! Palmer crumples up against the cage and Shang lands two more shots before the ref can save Palmer! This one is all over!
