Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between John Smith (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Xanadu Newton (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Smith comes to the cage accompanied by Bill Monroe & The Bluegrass Boys - Southern Flavor. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Smith throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Newton sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Smith misses with an uppercut. Newton saw that one coming.
Smith misses the jab.
Smith misses with a lunging right hand
and Newton counters with a leg kick.
Newton slips under a jab.
Smith rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
and Newton counters with a leg kick.

enabling Newton to counter with a crisp jab.
Newton connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there.

Smith throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
Smith shoots in and drives through. Newton sprawls well.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Smith throws a looping overhand right but Newton ducks down to avoid it.

and Newton makes him pay by landing a thudding low kick.

and Newton makes the exchange count by landing a cracking kick to the body. Smith really felt that one!
Smith is really head hunting here, hardly looking to strike to the body at all.

and he gets countered with a snapping leg kick.

and Newton counters with a head kick. That will keep Smith thinking before he tries any more sloppy attacks!
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Smith takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.
Newton lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh.
Smith tries to check the leg kick but that clearly hurt him.

Newton fakes the leg kick and cracks Smith in the body.
Newton scores with a slapping inside leg kick.
Smith is hobbling a little on that front leg after taking quite a few leg kicks so far in this fight.

Xanadu Newton is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

Newton lands a big head kick that sends Smith tumbling to the mat! Newton takes a step backwards and waves Smith back to his feet - he wants the finish!

Smith is rocked!
A head kick by Newton - that's a beauty! Smith is out but he's somehow still standing... he's going... going... gone. Like a drunk walking down the middle of the road, the inevitable face plant follows and the delayed knockout arrives. Even Newton can't help but laugh at the bizarre end to this one!
