PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Ivan Romanov (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Krug Barishkov (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Barishkov has chosen Angel of Death - Slayer as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Krug Barishkov!
The judges for this bout are Eliza Hachem, Donatello Bradman and Summer Carpenter.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Barishkov scores with a jab to the body.
Romanov circles away from the clinch attempt.
Barishkov misses with an uppercut
and Romanov counters with a flying knee. Nice.
Barishkov swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
letting Romanov counter with a right hand.
Romanov fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Romanov ducks down and throws a hook to the body.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Barishkov rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
and Romanov counters with a kick to the head that grazes his opponent. Barishkov is lucky that one didn't land flush.
Barishkov tries to close the distance and clinch up but Romanov swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Romanov's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

Romanov shoots for a takedown but Barishkov saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.

Romanov closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.

Barishkov displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Romanov.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

and Barishkov takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Barishkov shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Romanov pinned against the cage. Romanov gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Romanov moves out of range as Barishkov strikes.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Krug Barishkov will probably get the nod.
The cut man is working on Ivan Romanov's cut.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

Romanov throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Barishkov's waist but Barishkov gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Romanov off to one side.
Romanov tries to clinch there but Barishkov circles away.

Barishkov drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
Barishkov would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.

Romanov knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Barishkov on the ground.

Romanov is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Barishkov gets to his feet and stands over Romanov, holding his ankles. He dives in with a big left hand that connects! Romanov felt that one! Barishkov unloads more punches and elbows and this one is over! The ref has dived in to save Romanov from any more punishment!
