Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Gethin Poacher (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and James Smith (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Gethin Poacher has the edge in experience - let's see if he can make that count tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Gethin Poacher!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, James Smith!
The judges for this bout are Ryoma Takatsuka, Josh West and Chris Saunders.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Poacher throws a sloppy head kick and Smith moves out of range easily.
Poacher fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.

Poacher closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Smith did well to prevent Poacher getting side control.
Poacher missing with some ground and pound from the half guard.
Smith moves into full guard.
Poacher tries to stand but Smith is controlling from the bottom.
Poacher is fighting to break Smith's control of his arms but Smith is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.
Smith is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Poacher really is a fat lump.

Poacher won't allow Smith to sweep him here.
Poacher looking to sit in guard and control but Smith gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Smith drops back looking for a leg! Poacher is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Poacher manages to kick Smith off! Smith jumps back into Poacher's guard.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Poacher lands a nice leg kick that just misses Smith's sensitive parts.
Smith fails miserably with a takedown attempt.

Poacher scores with a hook to the body. Smith takes a step back and tries to catch his breath.
Poacher fails to land the takedown.

Poacher dives in and scores a takedown into Smith's guard.
Smith pulls Poacher in close to prevent any damage.
Smith keeping moving, preventing Poacher from controlling successfully.

Poacher stopping the sweep attempt from Smith.
Poacher pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Smith is keeping the position for now.
Smith bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Poacher's guard.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Smith decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.
Smith takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Gethin Poacher will probably get the nod.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.



Smith gets a takedown into half guard.

Smith is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Poacher has managed to free his arm - good work.
Smith wants to control but Poacher is keeping him busy.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Smith in particular looking to stall.
Poacher tries to roll over but Smith keeps him under control.
Poacher knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Smith on the ground.
Smith content to control rather than advance.
Poacher gets back to full guard.

Smith drops back looking for a submission - "I'm sorry sir, but I'm gunna break your leg" says Smith as he cranks on the unfortunate limb! Poacher screams and taps out before any major damage is done! Don't mess with Smith! Nice submission victory there!
