Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Mauricio Rocha, Paulo Santos and Felipe Paraventi.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Babcock fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Funkyama manages to avoid it.
Babcock tries for a takedown but Funkyama circles away easily
and Babcock takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Funkyama throws a shot from downtown. Babcock moves away and avoids it.
Funkyama misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Babcock pivots, looking for a leg kick but Funkyama is out of range and Babcock settles back down.
Funkyama lands a jab to Babcock's midsection.
Babcock stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.
Funkyama decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.
Babcock wants to improve his position but Funkyama is controlling well.
Babcock gets full guard.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Babcock bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Funkyama's guard.
Babcock wants to control from the top but Funkyama keeps moving.
Funkyama is adopting a defensive guard.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Babcock stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Funkyama swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Babcock won't allow Funkyama to sweep him here.
Funkyama lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Babcock!
Funkyama trying to control but he's not successful this time.
Babcock is desperately trying to get back to half guard.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Babcock is in a horrible position here. Funkyama smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.

Babcock tries to reverse the position but Funkyama maintains control.
