The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Cruz misses with a two punch combination.

Cruz closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Tarmizi is looking to take this one to the mat.
Tarmizi tries to pull guard but Cruz won't allow it.
Tarmizi changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Cruz fights it off and pushes away nicely.
Chris Cruz has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Nabil Tarmizi.
The fight stays on the outside here - Tarmizi looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Cruz fails with an attempt to clinch.
Cruz looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Cruz feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Tarmizis jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist!

Cruz forces Tarmizi back against the cage and clinches.
Tarmizi tries to circle away but Cruz has him pinned against the cage.

Cruz lands a hook to the side of the head.
Cruz throws a blind hook that connects with the side of Tarmizis head.
Cruz working some nice short punches in the clinch.
Tarmizi is trying to slow down the pace in the clinch, to catch his breath.
Cruz gets underhooks to prevent Tarmizi's takedown attempt.
Cruz scores with a shot to the side of Tarmizi's head.
Tarmizi is looking to break free of the clinch but Cruz has double underhooks.

A frustrated look appears on Tarmizi's face as he tries to break the clinch.

Cruz has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.
Nice body punch from Cruz - that landed with a thud.
Cruz lands a hook to the body. It's hard to tell if that hurt Tarmizi or not.
Tarmizi looks winded!

Cruz pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

Tarmizi is rocked!

Tarmizi gets caught by a brutal right hook which buckles his knees! Tarmizi tries to backpedal with his spaghettilegs but Cruz is headhunting and goes for the kill. A jab and a right hook connect and Tarmizi buckles badly as his eyes roll back. The referee steps in and saves Tarmizi!! Tarmizi is complaining but he was clearly out on his feet. Cruz throws his mouthpiece into the crowd. Mmmm spit-tastic.
