The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Squires thuds a left hand into Zerynchuk's body.

It looks like Vladimir Zerynchuk has been cut.
Zerynchuk could do with loosing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

Zerynchuk drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.

Squires really trying hard to get back to half guard here.
Squires really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Zerynchuk. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Zerynchuk wants to finish this one by submission but Squires is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Zerynchuk.

The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.

Squires shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Zerynchuk's guard.

Zerynchuk has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Squires can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Zerynchuk working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Squires doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Squires manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Squires stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Zerynchuk swivels though and keeps the full guard.

That was a close round but I would say that Vladimir Zerynchuk will probably get the nod.

Squires moving in and out of range nicely, whilst landing the scoring shot.
