The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Pickard looking to score a takedown here. Worner is defending well but Pickard drives through and ends up in Worner's guard.

Pickard postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Worner is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Pickard, into his guard.
Pickard bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Worner's guard.
Worner wants to sweep but no luck.

Worner working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Pickard doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Pickard manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Pickard postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Worner manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
Pickard is trying desperately to improve position.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Pickard slips a leg in and gets back to half guard.
Pickard is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Worner frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
Pickard working to try and regain half guard.
Worner trying to control but Pickard is having none of it.
Pickard is desperately trying to get back to half guard.

Pickard tries to hold on but Worner pushes him away.
Worner looking to control and managing it successfully.
Worner avoids the attempt from Pickard to control.
Pickard holding onto his opponent's waist for dear life, as Worner tries to land some strikes to get him to release his grip.
Pickard tries to reverse the position but Worner maintains control.
Pickard bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done!
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Pickard accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Worner misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Worner lands a jab-cross combination.
Worner tries to clinch but Pickard moves away

and Pickard counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Pickard stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Worner swivels though and keeps the full guard.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Worner wants to sweep here but Pickard controlling him for the moment.
Worner keeping moving, preventing Pickard from controlling successfully.
Pickard lands a couple of elbows.

Pickard is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.
Pickard stands up over Worner, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
Pickard must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Pickard chips away with some ground and pound.
Pickard wants to control from the top but Worner keeps moving.

Pickard is sitting in close to Worner's body. Worner has gone for a guillotine from the bottom. Oh damn, that looks pretty tight! Pickard is panicking - it looks like this one could be all over! Yes, Pickard is tapping! That was a very nice submission by Worner.
