PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Dusty Smoke (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Indian King (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Dusty Smoke!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Indian King!
The judges for this bout are Phil Schofield, James Glass and Donald Grub.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Smoke takes a shot to the body in his stride.
King tries to clinch up but Smoke circles away and keeps his distance.
Smoke shoots for a double leg takedown but King sprawls well. He's pushed Smoke's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
King goes for a spinning back kick but it misses.

Smoke gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.
King tries to pull guard but Smoke holds him up against the cage and eventually King drops back down to his feet.

King can't get the takedown.

King has Smoke pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. King pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Smoke tumbling to the mat - King dives into Smoke's guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
King stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Smoke swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Smoke looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but King puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Smoke is trying to get back to full guard.
Smoke manages to get to full guard.
King pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Smoke is keeping the position for now.

King is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
King trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
King is stalling in the full guard.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Dusty Smoke.
Smoke circles away from the clinch attempt.
Smoke defends well against a solid takedown attempt from King.
Dusty Smoke has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Indian King.

Smoke shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. King is trying to defend but Smoke finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
Smoke seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but King does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
King is pressing down on Smoke's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.
King doesn't do any damage with a couple of strikes from the bottom.
Smoke trying to control the position from guard on top but King is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Smoke is breathing heavily.
Smoke wants to control from the top but King keeps moving.

King escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Smoke gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

King looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Smoke is fighting to break King's control of his arms but King is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.
Let's hope that King has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

King looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Indian King dominated that round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Smoke works over King's head and body with a nice combination.


It looks like Indian King has been cut.
King shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.

King gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Smoke is working King over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.
King has his hands on Smoke's head, controlling the position.
King looking to control.
Smoke has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of King is proving hard to escape from.

That's one minute gone in the round.
King is trying to hold Smoke in close to prevent damage but Smoke has managed to pass into half guard.
King is looking to escape.
Smoke wants to lay and pray for a moment but King keeps working.
King trying to control but Smoke postures up.

King pushes Smoke off and gets back to his feet.

Smoke takes the fight into the clinch.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Smoke is trying to pull guard but King has him pressed against the cage.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Smoke lands punches inside but they're not really causing much damage.

King ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. King no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.
King is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.
Smoke trying to control but King is working from the bottom.
Smoke pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. King is keeping the position for now.
Smoke wants to control from the top but King keeps moving.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.

We're going to have a standup here because Dusty Smoke wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.
King shoots in for a double leg but Smoke sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Smoke.
Left hook, right uppercut from King.
Smoke avoids the clinch attempt nicely.

King scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.
King working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.
King landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

King decides to stand up and try his luck on the feet.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
King tries to bum rush Smoke with a series of wild strikes but Smoke uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
A punch lands to the side of Smoke 's head but he takes it in his stride.
King misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Dusty Smoke has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Indian King.

Smoke fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging King to the ground. Smoke is now in King's guard.
King working a defensive guard but Smoke manages to pass into side control anyway.
King is looking to regain half guard here but Smoke keeps moving and retains side control.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Smoke in side control, throwing shots but King defends.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close second round but Indian King will probably get the nod - 10:9.
The cut man is working on Indian King's cut.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!



King closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

King has an Americana. Smoke didn't react quickly enough there and he's in big trouble now! He tries to squirm out but is forced to tap! King is delighted and gyrates in front of the ring girls. They seem to like the attention - it'll be interesting to see if King hooks up with any of them at the after show party.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:24 of round 3, we have a winner by way of Submission (Americana). Indian King!
