PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between George Foreman (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kurt McConor (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Foreman's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, DMX - Aint No Sunshine. The key to victory for George Foreman has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, George Foreman!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Kurt McConor!
The judges for this bout are Wagner Zegers, Nard Betker and Aafke Stam.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Foreman leaves McConor with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Foreman lands a slapping body shot.

McConor fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Foreman to the ground. McConor is now in Foreman's guard.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.

McConor stands up from guard. Let's bang!
McConor has been working on his striking defense in training and it's paying off as Foreman is landing a low percentage of strikes.
McConor is trying hard to land a takedown here. Foreman sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
McConor looks for the body kick but Foreman saw that one coming.
McConor takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch.
McConor takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
McConor looks for a takedown but Foreman sprawls well.
George Foreman has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Kurt McConor.

McConor looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into side control! Oh, that's bad for Foreman!

McConor decides to stand back up. McConor steps back and let's Foreman get back to his feet.
McConor shoots in for a takedown but Foreman shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
McConor throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
McConor shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Foreman defends it nicely.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Foreman lands with an overhand left.
McConor shoots for a double leg takedown but Foreman sprawls well. He's pushed McConor's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Foreman gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows McConor to score an easy takedown into full guard.
McConor looks winded!

Foreman is working an open guard so McConor takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.
Foreman connects with a looping right hand.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
McConor misses with a takedown attempt - Foreman sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
McConor looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Foreman is fending him off so far but McConor persists. Nope, Foreman circles away and we're back to standing.
Foreman scores with the left hand. McConor knows he should have avoided that one.
McConor fails with a takedown attempt.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Foreman wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection.
Nice takedown defense from Foreman. No joy for McConor on that attempt.

McConor scores with a takedown into Foreman's guard.
Foreman is adopting a defensive guard.
Foreman wants to sweep here but McConor controlling him for the moment.

McConor stands and steps away. Foreman gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.
McConor throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Foreman's waist but Foreman gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing McConor off to one side.
Kurt McConor seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
McConor fails to land the takedown.
McConor tries to land a body kick
and Foreman counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Nice shot lands for Foreman.
McConor fails with a takedown attempt.
McConor shoots in for a takedown but Foreman shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Foreman connects with a single shot there.
Foreman looks to be in better condition than last time we saw him fight. Obviously he's been working hard on his cardio.
A swing and a miss from McConor.
Nice takedown defense from Foreman. No joy for McConor on that attempt.
Foreman moving in and out of range nicely, whilst landing the scoring shot.
George Foreman is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
No luck for McConor with that takedown attempt.
Foreman stuffs the takedown attempt from McConor. McConor gets slowly back to his feet.

Foreman drops McConor with a hook right on the temple. He thinks about going to the ground but McConor looks back up at him and smiles so Foreman waves him back to his feet - he obviously thinks he can knock him out after that shot landed.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Foreman wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection.
Foreman is moving around nicely and scores here with a single head shot.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Horrible takedown by McConor or perhaps it was just good defense by Foreman which made him look bad.
Foreman batters McConor with a massive right followed by a huge left! McConor is out on his feet looking like a zombie as Foreman lands a final crushing right hand to drop McConor to the mat with a gruesome thud! Foreman is running around like a mad man after that fight and for good reason!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:13 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Strikes). George Foreman!
During a confident post fight interview, George Foreman thanked all his fans. He seemed very genuine when describing how motivated his fans keep him.
Kurt McConor was interviewed post fight and said 'Thank's to my fans.I'll be back!'.
