PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Kirill Petrov (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and John Gites (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Petrov might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Iron Man. Gites has chosen Eminem - Above The Law as his entrance music. Both fighters really staring each other down here, as John Gites enters the cage!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Petrov is defended easily by Gites.
Gites tries to score a power double leg takedown but Petrov sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Gites somewhat.

Petrov tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.

Gites pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Petrov is looking to clinch but Gites is avoiding it.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Gites is working for a kimura but Petrov is defending it quite comfortably.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

Gites is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Petrov knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
