The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gomez fails in his attempt to clinch.
Couture circles away from the clinch attempt.
Gomez looks for a takedown but Couture sprawls well.

Couture has managed to clinch.

Couture has dropped down and is working for a takedown. Gomez is trying to keep an underhook but Couture manages to get the takedown into half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Couture thows a huge punch but Gomez dodges it nicely.
Couture thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Gomez's head.

Couture wants to take a breather but Gomez is having none of it.
Gomez is looking to control Couture's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Gomez avoid being mounted?
Couture takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
Gomez is trying to maintain the position but Couture is very close to passing his half guard.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Gaspar Gomez.

Gomez closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Couture's guard.
