The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Pettis fails with a takedown attempt.

and Pettis counters with a nice body shot.
Good leg kick by Neri there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.
A bone on bone clash there as Pettis blocks the leg kick.
Neri turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick.
Neri stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Neri wants it to stay on the feet.
Neri throws a decent looking leg kick but it doesn't land clean.
Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from Neri lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Pettis has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Pettis and we're back underway with a touch of gloves.
Neri tried to score with a low kick but Pettis checks it.
Pettis shoots in but Neri avoids the takedown attempt easily.

Pettis is trying hard to land a takedown here. Neri sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.

Neri lands an elbow inside that Pettis shrugs off.
Neri lands a left hand that snaps the head of Pettis backwards.

With the two fighters working up against the cage, Neri just misses with a elbow thrown towards Pettis's brow.

Neri really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Pettis. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Neri manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Pettis manages to get himself to full guard.
Pettis will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Neri makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.

Pettis has his foot on Neri's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Neri works his way back into a safe position though.

Pettis slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

Neri wants to improve his position but instead Pettis has moved into half guard.

Pettis has worked his way into a potential kimura here. Neri is trying to get out of the position but his squirming has just got him deeper into trouble. Pettis yanks on the arm and Neri is forced to tap due to a very painful looking submission! Nice work by Pettis.
